The fingerprint door lock is a very useful and modern device. The keypad and app control are great features, and I like that it has multiple ways to unlock, including a code or the app. The auto-lock function is very convenient and adds extra security. Itâs stylish with its silver finish and looks good on the door. But, the fingerprint sensor sometimes takes an extra try to recognise my fingerprint.

Multiple Unlocking Options for Maximum Convenience
I was immediately impressed with the BIWIBON Fingerprint Door Lock in Silver. It may be a chunky piece, but it manages to look quite sleek – and it looks especially elegant when it lights up!This smart lock feels like a premium upgrade, with thoughtful design features that make it stand out. I love the flexibility it offers with multiple unlocking options – whether through the app, fingerprint recognition, a secure password, or even a traditional key. It’s the perfect solution for busy households or offices.The ability to store up to 100 fingerprints is fantastic, especially in large environments with lots of staff.Surprisingly easy to install, it requires no more effort than replacing a regular door knob, making it a quick DIY project.I also love the peace of mind knowing that even if the batteries run out, I can simply plug in power via the USB-C port. Plus, the batteries last an impressive 10 to 12 months, depending on usage.My only minor concern is its weather resistance if used outdoors, but for my indoor use, it’s been an absolute game-changer.

The good and the bad
This is a good quality door lock, which I fitted to the rear, externally facing door, of my garage.It was easy enough to fit once I’d drilled out the respective mounting holes which is the worst part of the job.Note that it’s quite overbearing in size visually but functions well.Integration with the Tuya Smart app is seamless and very easy to set up. When setting up for finger print recognition it will take a scan of your digit 4 times on the lock handle. Finger print recognition worked effortlessly when conditions were dry, however, was more temperamental in wet weather. As such I feel this is best suited for indoor use even though it will function externally.The key pad functions well too. However, it’s use is not really practical, especially for taller people like me as you’ll have to stoop over. The default was also an 8 digit numerical code which I thought excessive. You can also unlock the lock via the app on the phone which also works well.Note that it will relock very quickly if you don’t open the door straight away.Everything aside, personally I think the worst aspect of the lock is the finish. It looks cheap and nasty. This is mainly due to the paint colour being a dull grey/silver.I would recommend this lock however if you use it internally, using fingerprint as the means of authentication.3.5 – 4 starsEdit: This does not work when it rains. Fingerprint cannot be recognised and it wouldn’t accept the pin. So do not use for any outside door. We shall have to remove this from the door we have installed it in.

Works exactly as expected but not sure I’d trust it on an outside door
First the good..The unit is easy to fit as any other door handle, 2 main sides join using bolts from the inside handle means it can’t be easily removed. The box contains everything needed including a door latch which I didn’t need to use as the one already in the door worked perfectly with this handle.Once you have installed the batteries (Take note of the polarity markers, they indicate which part of the battery should be pointing out of the holder..) the device is really easy to setup using the app & instructions with a huge amount of flexibility (multiple fingerprints / codes, one time codes etc). Just note that when you first install the door handle that the default setup will allow anyone to unlock the door using the fingerprint reader !!The not so good hence loosing a stara) The handles are fairly large/clunky so if you have a large doorframe you can find yourself trapping you hand between the doorframe and handle when trying to close the door.b) I’m not sure how long the device will work on an outside door where water etc can fall on the handle. It doesn’t appear to have any seals to prevent water ingress to the electronics side of the handle.c) I’m not sure I would trust it on an external door. While the overall handle is pretty solid and can’t easily be removed the flap containing the keypad seems that it would not take that much effort to break off allowing someone determined to get past the lock and into to room behind. I can see why it is designed this way (to use backup key/access the USB port if the internal batteries are dead) but feels like that part of the lock needs to be stronger.Overall if you are using this internally as I am to stop kids/visitors getting into the home office then it works really well and with the mobile app you can easily control who can access and give one time codes if needed.
