Works as intended
The ECOBAY WiFi Radiator Thermostat is a smart, user-friendly solution for enhancing home heating efficiency without the need for a separate gateway. Its sleek design and intuitive functionality make it a standout choice for upgrading traditional thermostatic radiator valves (TRVs).Setting up the thermostat is straightforward, with compatibility for both the Smart Life app and voice assistants like Alexa and Google Assistant. Once connected, you can easily control radiator temperatures remotely or through voice commands, allowing for real-time adjustments and improved comfort. The scheduling feature is particularly handy, enabling you to program heating routines that fit your lifestyle while reducing unnecessary energy consumption. The thermostat also boasts energy-saving capabilities, with features like open-window detection that automatically lowers the temperature when it senses a drop, preventing energy waste. Its wireless connectivity works reliably, and the lack of a gateway simplifies installation and reduces costs. While itâs a great option for most users, it may not be ideal for older heating systems that lack compatibility. Overall, the ECOBAY WiFi Radiator Thermostat offers a convenient, modern way to save energy and enhance comfort, making it a worthwhile investment for smart home enthusiasts.

EcoBay WiFi Radiator Thermostat
This product was sent to me for review, as part of Amazon Vine. The following is my own real-world experience of using it.In terms of build quality, the thermostat itself seems fairly robust, and has been properly-machined, which ensures an exact fit. To that end, I had no issues replacing my (non-smart) valve with it, and didn’t require any of the included adapters (though they are handy, if needed).I will say that I found the setup process to be too complicated; the instructions weren’t as clear as they could have been, and it doesn’t help that the LCD on the device is upside-down, when the device is installed vertically – it makes the information on it look like nonsense. After some perseverance, I did manage to get it paired with the Tuya app, and subsequently, Amazon Alexa. Since then, I have found the connection to be pretty reliable, and have been finding the voice-command feature (with Alexa) really useful. All in all, it seems to work well when set up, but the installation process could be improved. A good value item, nonetheless.

Works well, but is it really that useful?
Sometimes it can be easy to find a âsmartâ device appealing purely for its own sake, even if not really bringing much to the party, so to speak. As a smart device (wireless TRV) it works well enough, and is easy to control via the excellent (which I have used before) Tuya smart app. It can also interface with Alexa, but that would in many respects be even more pointless.Whilst on the face of it, this seems like a good idea, effectively it doesnât really add usefulness. Considering my home heating system, I have a 2 x zone GCH system (large detached house). The ground floor is underfloor, the upper, conventional radiators. The heating system is controlled via a central programmer with each zone independently programmable. Each of the ground floor individual zones has a room thermostat, controlling each areaâs temperature, similarly the upper floor has a TRV for each of the radiators, and a âcentralâ thermostat on the landing. Bear in mind that these valves only isolate / adjust temperature (stop the flow) to each individual radiator, but does NOT turn the heating on or off, which is done via the controller, with overall temperature control via the central thermostat. Generally speaking, you âset and forgetâ a radiator, switching the heating on or off / programme times according to preference and ambient temperature. So these look smart (bit big and bulky), are very expensive, require shed loads of batteries (we have 8 x radiators â 4 x bedrooms, 3 x bathrooms, 1 x landing). I tried this, it was fine, but changed back again to the existing Siemens TRV.To summarise, the product is fine, comes complete with batteries plus adapters and decent instructions, but solves a problem that doesnât exist! A decent TRV is inexpensive, requires no network, apps or batteries, and does exactly the same thing. Even if you maybe have a spare room that you turn the radiator down or off when not in use, it takes a second (quicker than opening an app etc does!) to turn the valve up or down. VERY expensive!I hope that you have found this helpful.

Looks good
I normally don’t write a review untill I have had the item up and working; however i do not plan to fit this until the spring.I have had all the bits out on thebench, read the instructions and can see no problems with it.

Cheap devise I do not recommend
I am an 80+ OAP and no longer able to attempt DIY activities myself. I purchased this ECOBAY WiFi TRV because of the advertised simplicity of installation. I employed a Central Heating company specialising in Radiator TRV issues. The engineer spent 3 hours attempting to install and set up this device and tried on numerous occasions to connect to my WiFi hub without success. Ultimately he advised me replace the devise with a well know and not cheap Smart TRV. I have now purchased a Hive TRV and Hub. Work, no problem. This exercise has cost me £200.00 to to try and install cheap £29 Chinese device.I definitely do not recommend the ECOBAY WiFi TRV and caution other purchasers to beware.

Teuer, weil man heizen muss.
