Excellent item!
We’ve had this item for almost a year now and it’s only had one charge. It is a brilliant bit of kit that I am so pleased I got.I use it with my vertical blinds and Alexa. I have the blinds set to open in the morning and close when the routine for all the lights coming on in the evening, I hated that my lights came on when I wasn’t home and the blinds still being open so bought this and it works perfectly well.It is pretty easy to set up, the dongle bit I plugged directly into my router so I haven’t taken up another plug or USB port on my sockets.I highly recommend this item!!

Needed it so was purchased
As always, Aqara stuff was easy to install and works as it should. I needed the hub for my blind motor they sell so that was accepted and it also works as a wifi extender.A wider reach for our wifi was always needed in my house, our Lay-z-Spa is wifi but we couldn’t use the remote options in the garden as no wifi connection, and this hub has solved that issue, which was hugely pleasing. We have two bars now where we struggled to get one and the spa is not able to be controlled. The hub is about 20-25 ft from the spa, through a wall to the outside.Would recommend

Bit fiddly to setup on App but fine after initial setup
I had an issue with my first hub, which was replaced by support.I had some issues pairing the hub with the app. It seems like if it fails for some reason, then it (can) get into a bit of a funny state that you kind of need to reset cleanly before trying again (if an instant retry fails again). If you have similar issues I’d suggest a few things:- ensure your WiFi is on 2.4GHz only (can re-enable 5GHz later).- where possible use an up-to-date android phone (I had issues on my old one plus, but Samsung S22 worked)- If experiencing issues pairing, try turning off/on the device and doing the reset (see support guides) I also found closing the app/restarting the phone seemed to help fully reset the state of the pairing.Once the pairing was out of the way, I was easily able to pair other sensors and configure the automation rules to get push notifications.Seems to be working fine since initially configured and the app is easy to use.It would be nice if the push notifications were a little clearer at first glance, most of the notification text appears to be the heading and not just the ‘action’ that it is alerting me on, until i click and expand it further to see the details.

Very easy install
Had trouble with the installation of the app on the phone as phone was 5g and app needed 2g. Technical problem was resolved by daughter who is far more tech savvy.

Finally a reward for shouting at your Alexa !!!!!
This is a great product. My blinds are up and down more often than a YoYo now. Why is commanding Alexa to open and shut your blinds so rewarding? Anywhoo – you need to buy the recommended Hub separately or they do a pack with the hub and the motor together. Took me a while to set up but not very long after I decided to read the instructions that came with it. Works perfectly with Alexa and Siri. Siri seems to provide more functionality with voice command. You can also control the blind through the app on your phone and you can programme it to open when you enter a room etc. I am going to get a few more of these especially as occasionally they are on offer at the 60⬠price point which makes them really really good value. DON’T forget you need to buy the small hub unit regardless of what home automation you have Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home etc. I believe 1 hub handles 2 unit. … I’ll soon find out. Highly recommended. I’ve had this one more than a month and use it a good few times and only recharged it once, so battery life is fabulous. Great product.

I have three Deco X55s running a dual-band mesh, so to install this Aqara Hub I told the Deco app to put my phone onto the 2.4GHz during setup since this inexpensive hub does not have a 5GHz radio (and why would it need one… it would just increase cost and reduce range). Then I downloaded the Aqara app and paired as normal.Once the Aqara Hub was connected to my WiFi, I used the Deco app to set the hub’s connection preference to 2.4GHz, on the closest Deco satellite, and disable “mesh technology” since other reviews said it wouldn’t work with a mesh (and the hub won’t be moving around anyway). It has only been a couple of days, but the hub has worked flawlessly with Aqara’s “wireless mini switch” (a little wireless button) tested outdoors up to 100′ from the hub.I bought the Aqara Hub and button to control a group of Ring “smart lights” in our back yard since Ring requires you to use a slow, buggy app to turn on lights, or it relies on motion detectors which don’t always see our dog. I was reluctant to add yet another hub to our home just to fill the gap in Ring’s functionality, but aside from turning the lights on, being able to turn them off means saving batteries and reducing recharge time.By installing the Alexa App, then the Aqara Home “skill” and setting a “routine”, I can now turn on the Ring smart light group in my back yard with a real life physical button at the door instead of “get phone->unlock screen->nav to app shortcut->enter lighting screen->wait for lights to load->turn on lights”. Voice commands would probably have worked work from the Alexa app, but I refuse to live in a world where I run around yelling at apps and hubs while people try to work, sleep, and listen to music/tv/games/conversations.This is one of the least expensive hubs we have (especially compared to Ring and Hue, though the X-Sense and Diivoo hubs we have came in kits and could be considered less expensive), plus it’s very small and does not need a mount as long as you have an extra USB adapter. It solved my problem, set up quickly, installed even faster, has great range, and was (relatively) inexpensive. I’m sure their other hubs have more features, but I don’t need them and I’m glad Aqara has this base model smart hub!

In the end – it worked!Yet was very unnerving to set up on iPhone.Tip: when you set it up for the first time, to anvoid time out errors, always accept the name suggested by the system and hit enter quickly.Only after I did that, I was able to set it up, and then renamed at a later stage.
