    30C REDUCTION IN TEMPERATURE!
This is a bizarre looking device and seems like an over the top solution for hot NVME temperatures. But I had a WD Black SN770 that was 59C when nothing was happening and would ramp up to 83C when under load. It was in a slot near the CPU and didn’t seem to be getting enough ventilation. I tried the Thermalright TR-M.2 2280, which did help a little. But I wanted to drop the temperature down more. So I opted for the Thermalright HR-09.Fitting the Thermalright HR-09 to the NVME is striaghtforward. Just make sure you have enough room to carefully slot the NVME into it’s place on the motherboard. Because the cooler has some weight to it, It would be very easy to damage the NVME. I would also suggest removing the NVME and cooler if you’re moving the PC. I’d be concerned about the weight of the cooler damaging the NVME.The performance is amazing. It reduced the peak temperature from 83C to 53C! This is way more then I expected. Considering there’s no fan on the cooler, the raw performance is impressive. If you’re having issues with temps on your NVME. I’m happy to recommend this product.

Decent quality budget heatsink, worth trying out
This is for the black Thermalright HR-09 2280 PRO heatsink. It features no fan. Gauging by the reviews of heatsinks with a fan, some users don’t like how they sound, and prefer them turned down or off. That would defeat the purpose of reducing temperature, so perhaps it’s no great loss. My main SSD drive with windows installed is a Samsung 970 Evo Plus. My second drive is a Western Digital SN570. Neither had heatsinks. The Samsung drive would sit idle at 42C, positioned in the top pcie slot between the CPU and graphics card. The Western Digital drive at the bottom would sit idle at 35C.The Samsung can go beyond 50c under heavy load. It reaches even higher temps (60+) with warning signs in CrystalDiskInfo when benchmarking, or when using high quality graphical settings in software, due to an increased data throughput. It probably didn’t help being so close to the CPU and graphics card with their own ever increasing temperatures. Whether there were case fans set on high or not. So I thought I would try a heatsink out for the Samsung SSD, after reading reviews on tech sites. I already have a Thermalright Peerless Assassin 120 air cooler for my CPU, so I knew that Thermalright generally make decent products. The installation of the heatsink might be a challenge if you have large hands. You have to also be very careful, as these heatsinks can be relatively sharp at the edges. It’s not something you would want to drop on any motherboard. If you aren’t sure on how to install, there are plenty of video guides out there. One of it’s thermal pads came loose after unboxing – there’s one on each side of the heatsink after you open and unscrew it – but as these pads stick, it wasn’t hard to put back before inserting the SSD. Aligning the heatsink and end of the Samsung SSD drive up together so that the drive screws back in place on the motherboard may be the hardest part. Note that some motherboards may not use a screw for the opposite end of the SSD slot. What was harder was not so much the installation, but removing my graphics card to get to the space where the SSD was inserted. It didn’t give much room to work in. Don’t try to pull your card out unless you have moved the graphics card’s pcie slot locking slider/clip over. This is usually on the right of where the graphics card attaches itself. The safest way to unlock if you can’t reach it, may be to use something blunt such as a chopstick. Don’t use a screwdriver as one scratch can ruin your motherboard. Obviously, don’t work on your system unless the mains plug is disconnected and system is off. Static is little of an issue on a modern system if you continuously touch something metal such as the inner case and only hold components by their edges. The size of the heatsink wasn’t a problem. Even next to a large graphics card, and using only a medium sized case (BeQuiet 500DX) it managed to fit in just fine. With the heatsink finally attached to the Samsung SSD, after crawling gradually up from room temperature as normal, instead of resting at 42C, the drive now rests at 32C. So it has shaved at least 10C off as a minimum. During heavy load it is also similar, reducing temperatures further. Both drives now sit at roughly around the same temperature. I haven’t bothered using a heatsink for the Western Digital drive, as it’s largely just for copies of files and isn’t in use often. So I would say this heatsink is definitely worth the money for any SSD in heavy use or running an operating system.

Superb! Just make sure you have room and the right screwdriver!
Makes a real change from the over-priced lumps of aluminium that have been just about the only thing available for a very long time. This is a great value, quality heatsink. It arrives very well packed, in a nice double skinned card box. Inside are quality foam inserts that should mean the heat sink is in perfect condition. There’s also an instruction leaflet, which I didn’t read, I watched the video instead. The first thing that strikes you is that it’s really heavy and great quality. The only fitting limitation is that you probably can’t use one of these if you have a heat-sink on the CPU and you want to use the socket close to the CPU. I never use that socket, for that very reason, so it’s not an issue for me.Oh, also, some motherboards place sockets under the graphics card so that is another no-no place for these heat-sinks. I use Asus motherboards, and they often seem to have some sockets a good distance from the GPU. In most modern motherboards it doesn’t matter which you use.You need a PH00 screwdriver to undo the screws. You may also need the same screwdriver to undo the screws for the SSD, so you maybe already have one.Assembly is very easy, as long as you follow the video. It all comes apart and goes back together very easily. The heat pads are great and unlike many other products, they aren’t difficult to fit.Note that the only chip that really needs to press against the heat-pad is the one closest to the copper connection strip, so most of the time it doesn’t matter if the heights of the chips are different. As long as that one chip presses against the heat-pad, you are good. You can also buy new heat-pads if you somehow manage to damage one.Feels very solid when assembled.Running temperatures are better than any other heat-sink I have used, but in all honesty, I haven’t used that many. This is a great product at a very reasonable price.

    Great looking bit of kit
This looks well made and am sure it would work well – just in my build with a Noctua CPU cooler, there’s no room for it

Allerdings liegt der Kühler auf der Backplate der Grafikkarte leicht auf. Wahrscheinlich durch das Gewicht. Aber die Leistung ist gut.
