Customers say
Customers find the microphone crystal clear and appreciate its compatibility with Sony WH-1000XM3 headphones, simple plug-and-play setup, and value for money. The sound quality and build quality receive mixed feedback – while some praise the noise cancellation, others report poor sound using the V-Moda cable, and some units broke down after a year of use. Well worth it
Iâve owned numerous gaming headsets in the past 10 years searching for high mic quality and high sound quality. After the latest pair broke down after 2 years of abuse, I decided to try this solution.Paired with my Sony XM4s and havenât looked back since. Iâve received multiple comments on the incredible mic quality. That being said I would recommend the omnidirectional mic only for home use as I understand it will pick up a lot of background noise. Thatâs not an issue for me but could be for someone who wants to use these in a noisier environment.

Excellent addition to many headphones
Initially I looked into purchasing this for my V-Moda Crossfade LP (original, not 2) as I prefer the idea of a boom mic, rather than in-line mic for playing games and using voice chat through Steam.I was rather surprised to find that this will not work with only V-Moda products but any headphones that have a standard 3.5mm jack (there might be exceptions, but I don’t know), as the mic aspect is only in the cable. That’s excellent news for future purchases of headphones and my recommendations of headsets for other people.Mic quality has been reported to me as being exceptionally clear. It’s a mic so don’t expect to sound like you’re in the same room as another player and, obviously, it will depend on the quality of their headset as well but the first description was that I sounded like I was talking on a phone with good clarity. It’s a mic – there are variables galore but positive feedback all round. The cable itself is pretty decent. The cable has a standard 3.5mm jack that works with Apple products, 3DS systems and the like. There’s a separate adapter for plugging into the PC. I’m not sure about the in-line controls but I’m going to leave it out of pros vs cons because I can’t make up my mind; there’s nothing that I can put my finger on that is “bad”, let’s put it that way.The boom mic, astoundingly, feels solid and flimsy at the same time. It’s extremely easy to bend the mic (cable? Pole? I don’t know the term) but at the same time it doesn’t feel like it’s going to break any time soon. I can only assume that it’s that well-made.If I had one niggle about the cable it’s the inability to vary the length; it’s too long for where I have it plugged in and I can see that other people would have a similar issue if they plug this into the front of their PC, for example. I can’t call it a negative per se, however, as it’s a cable length. Some people may need it to be longer. One negative I do have is that the PC adapter could have had a clearer way to illustrate which is the mic and which is audio. There is a symbol on the side of the jacks with headphones on one and an arrow on the other but I would have preferred coloured bands (do they have a term?) on the jacks, rather than them both being black. Not much else can be said, really. It’s a cable that works with the headphones and the mic is clear.

Did a job, clear mic but replaced with a real mic within weeks
Bought after hearing good stuff about the quality of the mic, which did not disappoint. The only thing that stopped me using it was I opted to just bit the bullet and buy a Shure mic instead. Now put in the back of the cupboard somewhere to be found by my mother once she gets round to throwing my old rubbish out of my old room.

The box says professional grade mic… it sure feels it!
Having tried more gaming headsets than I’d like to admit and being so very disappointed with the quality of the mic’s, I was skeptical that this paired with my Sennheiser 598’s would be any better. I could not be more wrong!I stream games using OBS, and for every headset I’ve tried I’ve had to add suppression, gain and noise gate filters. Only one of the headsets I tried it actually worked on. But even then I was not happy. One of my main problems is I am a “nasal gamer” (as I like to call it) so all mics pick up my breathing in a bad way lol.So onto this mic, WOW! First off, I was able to completely remove all filters on OBS. Didn’t need any suppression or noise gate to block unwanted sounds. This mic only picks up me. The sound is super clear, and it actually makes my voice sound like I would expect to here it. I can even move the mic well away from my mouth and it’s still loud and clear. I cannot stress how clear this mic is. Their is no breathing, no static, no background noise. Truly awesome. The box says professional grade mic… it sure feels it!The stork is my next favourite feature. It is extremely flexible. You bend it, and it stays. Very nice. My only worry is whether this rigidness stays over time. We will see.The control unit works well. It has a volume dial and a mute switch and a clip on the back to attach it to clothes. One criticism here though is I think that unit is too big. Many others have the same functionality in a lot smaller unit. It could be stuff that makes this thing so awesome and clear though is housed in there so I’m not grumbling. It doesn’t get in the way so its fine. The braided cable is nice and long and comes with a nice quality cable tie. Useful as I use a game controller so I don’t have to have miles of cable all over.In the box is an adapter to convert the 3.5 jack into a headphone and mic jack for those that prefer to plug directly into their computer sockets. All jacks appear gold so looks quality to me.I was mildy disappointed that a mic this good let itself down a little by not coming with a pop filter, but I bought a pack of 10 mini’s off Amazon anyway for a fiver so at least I have spares.Final verdict, this mic is the business! If you are struggling to find a boom mic style gaming headset, make your own. Having tried so many different high end gaming headsets, I’m confident I now have the perfect headset… Sennheiser 598SR + V-MODA BoomPro Microphone.

Excellent alternative to a gaming headset
I coupled this with a good pair of Phillips headphones for online gaming and have had no regrets (in use for about 3 years now). Everyone says i’m loud and clear with this mic and the best bit is you can chose any headphones to suit your needs as long as they have a 3.5mm jack.

Mic sound quality seems worse than the standard version, doesn’t eliminate background noise
Bought the Boom pro this time after a good few years with the standard one. Reason I changed was I am in a busy office a lot, so the directionality i thought would help, and it would still work for gaming.tested it today and in a busy office it still catches a lot of background noise, but the sound quality just feels more scratchy and not high quality, always found the old quality very good but this just feels like I could have bought any in-line mic for a few quid.Using with sony WXm4’s noise cancelling headphones.Cable also super short on this one- which has it’s pro’s and cons.

I use this for remote work customer service and it works very well with my Beats Studio Pro. I was concerned about voice clarity due to the reviews my voice comes through clearly on the Salesforce soft phone and in Zoom meetings. I even set the voice input to the lowest setting on the computer sound settings to ensure no other noises are picked up and my voice is still CRYSTAL CLEAR.One con so far is that volume controller barely affects volume – turning to the lowest setting doesnât mute volume and barely lowers it.I was using the original VModa mic attachment for the last couple months since the mics on the Jabra headsets my job sends us keeps malfunctioning, and it worked well but it picked up everything even noises from shifting around in the chair. This newer version still picks up extra loud noises that are up close but itâs much more muted, plus it doesnât pick up slight noises (like my partner doing dishes in the background) at all.So happy with the purchase and would definitely recommend for others using Beats headphones for soft phone calls through work and Zoom meetings. My partner now uses the older version for gaming and itâs prob the best option for gamers but havenât tested the new one for gaming yet to say whether itâs good for gaming just yet.

I got one of these around Christmas 2013.I have been VERY rough on everything. Fully submerged in multiple liquids, often sitting or stepping on it, would disconnect from my head or my PC with no damage to it 12+ years later.Originally I purchased it to prepare for my cats chewing through the cord and wanted something I may easily replace.I have tested many very high end quality microphones and along with NVIDIA Broadcast this is the best.I put the old one that works in the new packaging for backup and have the new one on right now.@V-MODACanada @vmoda now that I have a second you should charge more money! ð

I have the original V-Moda Boom Pro. This is a side-grade that I was happy to get as I often game in the same room as my partner. We are only 4 feet apart, and the old mic would pick up her voice unless I set a very high noise gate in Discord. Anything auto/AI noise canceling was hit or miss, as it would decide that her speaking was my speaking. After setting up this mic, ensuring it’s within an inch of my mouth, and angling it correctlyâwow! She can now yell at her screen and my mic doesn’t pick it up at all. The sound quality is a slight step down, but I’m picky about such things and my friends on Discord didn’t notice or comment on it.

Great product. My new Sony 1000XM4 microphones sucked. Wanted a good microphone for conf calls and casual gaming. This one fits right in..the sound quality is exceptional. Goes well with my XM4
