Didnât work for me
I pitched the adapter to enable me to convert the EV charging cable to use a 3 pin 13 amp plug , the adapter easily connected to the end of cable, but when I plugged it into the 13 amp socket it didnât work,,?I have now purchase a dedicated charging cable with 13 amp plug,?and it is charging perfectly plugged into same socket,?that adapter would work from.. so had to return the adapter.

Check your vehicle first – adapter seems fine but won’t work with my car.
I’ve given this a middle number of stars because – despite help from the web site – my car does not support it . Despite very confused claims that the car supports V2x charging it does not have an on board inverter for Vehicle to load, only DC support for a wall box which does vehicle to home or to grid.Background, geeky info. A charging cable has a resistor between one of the communication pins and earth to indicate the current the cable can take (read the WikiPedia article on SAE_J1772 and look for the proximity pilot section). By using different resistors to these a vehicle to load connector can signal that it is a discharging cable, and that the car should switch its on board inverter on. The required resistance seems to be different for different makes of car so this adapter has a switch to pick three different resistances. In all cases my car says “Yeah I see something plugged in, but I don’t know what to do with it”, but if you have the right MG or KIA putting this switch in the right places will get the car to supply 220-250v on the same pins that it takes power from a charger on – and those are connected to a traditional UK 13AMP socketIt looks well made, but only after I received it did I find something on evdb to confirm my car won’t work with any such device.

Works fine if you know what you are doing.
Before buying this check your car has V2L. There is a switch with 3 positions, China, EU and US. This is not about where you are, it is about what standard the EV conforms to. I live in UK driving an MG, Brexit is irrelevant here, MG is an UK brand bought by SAIC, a Chinese manufacturer so I set the switch to China, plug it in then select discharge battery in the car. I guess for a Mini made by BMW the switch would need to be set to EU.

A shame, as I like the things I get produced by my fraternal colleagues in the People’s Republic of China, only made possible by the enlightened rule of the Communist Party, started under the ever-lamented Chairman Mao Tse Tung. Sorry Comrades: this one didn’t work for me. Might there be a revisionist capitalist working in the factory where this was made, who is trying to undermine the People’s Republic?
