A Decent, No-Frills USB-C Cable That Does the Job
I picked this up mainly as a spare for my iPhone 15 Pro Max, MacBook Pro and Lenovo Laptop, and after a couple of weeks of use, itâs turned out to be a pretty decent cable, though not without some limitations.Letâs start with the good: it supports up to 60W fast charging and does so reliably. I tested it with a PD charger and saw quick charge times â nothing out of the ordinary, but perfectly in line with what youâd expect from a mid-range Type-C cable. It worked well across all my devices too, including my work Samsung phone and iPad. No disconnection issues, overheating, or flimsiness.The 2-metre length is useful, especially if youâre working from a sofa or bed and need that extra slack. The nylon braiding feels tough and seems like itâll stand up to daily bending or being thrown in a bag. No fraying or wear so far, and itâs definitely held up better than some cheaper plastic-coated ones Iâve had in the past.That said, there are a few caveats. Like many cables in this price range, itâs limited to USB 2.0 speeds (480Mbps), which is more than fine for charging or syncing music and photos, but not ideal for moving large files or using with external SSDs. Also, at around £8 for a single cable, itâs priced a bit higher than similar options, especially considering the limited data rate.Overall, itâs a solid choice if you mainly want it for charging and donât need high-speed data transfer. Itâs built well, works reliably, and looks tidy enough â just be aware of its limitations before picking one up.
