Simple way to power off a scanner
Sometimes the simple ideas are the best.I’ve got this connected between my flatbed scanner and my PC. It allows me to leave the scanner powered down, except for those times when I need to use it. I had considered looking for a USB A to micro USB cable with a switch, but this just extends the scanner’s regular cable a little and adds the switch I wanted.

Clunky but effective, works with data not just power
This isn’t the most stylish or modern-looking of cables, but it does the job. The switch looks exactly like what you’d find on a fairly old bedside lamp, and it has the same fairly noisy mechanical click to it, but in a way it’s quite reassuring that there’s a solid mechanical air gap in the cable when you switch it off.However, in my opinion it’s definitely missing some clearer indication on the switch itself as to which way is ‘on’ and which way is ‘off’. As it is you just have to experiment with it, which isn’t ideal when you may be connecting or breaking a data connection as well as a power connection. (It does work with data connections by the way, and I was able to transfer files from my laptop to my phone through it.)The print on the bottom of the switch is black on black and difficult to read, but I couldn’t find any very clear indication about the limitation of the cable, or whether it would complain or break if you tried to put laptop-charging levels of power through it, instead of smartphone-charging levels- so from a safety point of view, I didn’t try it out. A bit more information, and a bit more clarity, wouldn’t have gone amiss.So with a couple of ‘would be nice’ points, and considering the almost-ten-quid price tag is almost enough to buy a smart plug instead at the moment, I can’t recommend it unconditionally. But it’s solidly made and it works fine.

La qualité de fabrication de cette rallonge à interrupteur est correcte.C’est un accessoire très pratique pour commander l’allumage et l’extinction de périphériques quand on possède un hub qui ne le permet pas. Il est également très utile pour les petites lampes USB qui ne proposent pas toutes un interrupteur. Par contre, c’est un modèle unipolaire et la coupure ne se fait que sur le “+”, le fil rouge qui correspond à la borne 1 du câble USB.Je suis donc satisfait de cet accessoire. Vendu 12€, le rapport qualité/prix me semble encore intéressant.

Per illuminare il mio albero di Natale, ho usato delle luci LED con porta USB pertanto ero alla ricerca di una soluzione pratica e stabile per poterle attivare e disattivare facilmente. Questa prolunga assolve perfettamente al suo compito e presenta una serie di caratteristiche interessanti:- L’interruttore è stabile e preciso nell’attivazione e risulta essere piuttosto piccolo e discreto;- Le porte USB risultano essere stabili nell’inserimento e sono ricoperte da una finitura gommata che facilitano la presa e l’inserimento del dispositivo;- Il cavo è piuttosto robusto e resiste a strappi ed abrasioni.Il motivo per cui non ho dato cinque stelle è solo uno… Il prezzo! Questa prolunga costa il doppio delle luci LED che ho collegato.
