SABRENT USB Serial Cable
I used this particular FTDI Sabrent cable to “flash/update” the firmware of a newish ROTEL TRIBUTE CD11 CD player via it’s serial port. It worked well on Windows 10 x64 via USB side once it discovered the cable. I would recommend though to disable anti virus before doing any updates first. Now, why a simple red book CD player requires firmware updates in 2025 is another matter. Two stars off as it’s too expensive!.

Easy to use and supported on current operating systems
Worked out the box with Windows (10 and 11) picking up the drivers automatically.The DE9/RS232 plug (with USB chip) is compact enough (only marginally longer than a standard DE9 connector) to fit inside the enclosure I needed it to.Only niggle is that the listing image is a solid black cable (which matched the others in use here), but the product has a dark brown transparent sheath, showing the braided shielding inside.

No use for Mac Venturer OSX 13.x
Unfortunately the drivers (even the latest on the manufacturers website https://sabrent.com/pages/support#Downloads) only mentions up to Catalina 10.15. So had to return the product. Install error is”System Extension BlockedA program tried to load new system extension(s) signed by “ProlificTechnology Inc.” that need to be updated by the developer.”I believe the issue is more around Apple locking down their operating system, rather than a faulty product. So the manufacturer needs to either update drivers, or instruction, or make it clear on Amazon that not all Mac OS versions are supportedThe product itself felt good quality, so I would imagine it would be great for other operating systems

Ich benutze den Adapter um in der StraÃenbahnen Steuergeräte, wie die SIBAS16, auszulesen. Leider funktionieren nicht alle auf dem Markt angebotenen Adapter reibungslos mit der Diagnosesoftware und den Steuergeräten zusammen. Aber diese Adapter funktioniert hervorragend. Daher 5 Sterne
