Fantastic Addition
This Apple Home-compatible relay is a fantastic addition for smart home enthusiasts. Its ability to be programmed via the Switchbot application offers impressive flexibility, allowing for simple dry contact operation (NO), timed functions, or single pulses. With two independent dry NO contacts, you can configure each one separately to suit your specific needs. It’s a versatile and reliable solution for integrating various devices into your Apple Home ecosystem.

Needs a hub to operate? or not. Mixed opinions…
I got this expecting to wire it into my outside light switch to control it with Alexa, switching it on at dusk and off after I get home.Upon reading the instructions and investigating my lighting circuits, I realised I had no third wire to my switches, so would have had to put it directly into the light fitting. A task impossible for me, as it was simply too small for even this tiny piece of kit.I did look at the app that sets it up and controls it. The instructions mentioned needing a connectivity hub of some description, which I don’t have. Slightly confusing, as other reviews said you could connect it directly without a hub.I might get an electrician to have a look at it and see what they can do next time I need work in the house. For now, it’ll sit on a shelf and gather dust.

loved it but not easy installation
The price is £26.99 at the time of review and while it is good value for money, it can be lower compared to other similar products on Amazon. Glad I ordered as it has been useful, but maybe a bit of mixed feelings. This product is suitable for those who want to automate two circuitsâlike lights and fansâwithout rewiring everything. Its main functionalities include remote control via Alexa/Google Home, energy monitoring, and creating custom automation scenes through the app. You can even pair it with sensors to trigger actions like turning on lights when motionâs detected. What I loved most was how the build quality is solidâthe V0 flameproof casing feels sturdy, and the 16A rating handles heavy loads without heating up. The ease of use is decent once youâre past the initial setup; the appâs energy graphs helped me spot which appliances were draining power. On the flip side, the instructions are vagueâI had to watch YouTube tutorials to figure out wiring, especially since my older switch box lacked a neutral wire. Also, the 2.4GHz Wi-Fi requirement caused hiccups until I moved my router closer. If youâre intending to buy this, then Iâd advise to consider whether your switch box has a neutral wire and enough depthâmine barely fit, and I had to adjust the wiring. Double-check compatibility with your smart home setup (Matter supportâs great, but some hubs might need tweaking). The copper-nickel contacts are reliable, but if youâre not comfy with basic electrical work, maybe get a pro to install it. For the price, the control are neat, though the app could be more intuitive. If your priorityâs long-term energy savings over plug-and-play simplicity, thisâll do the job.

Compact unit from a reliable company that fits in minutes and works perfectly
This unit operates much like the other variations of relay switch you can hide behind a lightswitch. Itself the unit is tiny and just a little larger than the single relay Sonoff MiniR4’s.The unit supports matter although I don’t currently have a hub to test this. For now I’ve been using the mobile app to control the lounge lights via bluetooth which works well & shows the power being consumed when switched on.Ideally I wanted to use this with Home Assistant but the double relay version of the switchbot we have here is not currently supported unlike the single relay version. Their site does show that this functionality should be available this month (May 2025) so will wait and see.For those that may want to install ESPHome the device is an ESP32-C3 connected to a HLW8112 power monitor and has connection points to all the standard programming pins which can be accessed by removing the bottom cover which is held on with a few clips. One thing I’m not sure about is if the chip is locked down at-all…

Versatile and integrates into many systems
This is a two “gang” relay switch that is designed to be small enough to fit in the back box behind your light switch. There are two issues for me with this, my back boxes are thin and there is not enough room in them and secondly this relay requires the negative on the power supply when my switch back boxes only have two wires the supply and switched return. If you don’t have the negative wire you either need to rewire or install the relay back in the lighting circuit in the loft or under the floorboards where you can access the circuit including the negative. You may have to change things around a bit depending on loops in your wiring. You can still use the old wiring to the switch. This negative wire is commonly required and this is not unique to this relay.Once you actually get it installed it needs joining to the network and there is no explanation included of how to do this. I got the SwitchBot app from the Play Store and set up an account in order to set the relay up then you have to load the service/integration/helper to run it from your Alexa or Google etc.As I don’t want to control the relay from the SwitchBot app (I have too many other control apps) I need to integrate it in to my Home Assistant. To do this I needed the SwitchBot bluetooth integration. This particular relay benefits from having two relays built in so you can control two lighting circuits just like a double gang light switch. If you have other Switchbot devices you can form a bluetooth network where the devices work as repeaters, a sort of bluetooth version of zigbee.

I love this relay, itâs so worth getting compared to a single relay. I was able to use this and automate 2 switches instead of one and it snuggly fit into it my box without a problem. I also already have the hub mini so I could integrate it with HomeKit over matter.
