Customers say

Customers find the outdoor security camera easy to install and appreciate its brightness, particularly how it lights up gardens and garages when motion is detected. The camera receives positive feedback for its solid construction and picture quality, with some noting it’s clearer in daylight. However, the functionality and motion detection receive mixed reviews, with some reporting it works well while others say it doesn’t work at all. Moreover, battery life and value for money are also mixed aspects – while some praise the incredible battery life, others report batteries running out every two weeks, and while some consider it a great value, others find it a waste of money.

    Horrible battery life
Well built camera, easy to set up and connect, and very good floodlights. Video quality is good during the day and ok at night. But battery life of the camera is horrible. New lithium batteries last 9-11 days. On my 5th set now and I will probably trash the camera as it gets very expensive to run. The camera is only armed at night and gets triggered maybe once a week so not recording all the time to justify battery usage. The floodlight battery is great and I am still on my first set of batteries but camera battery usage is ridiculous.UPDATE: Can’t fault the Blink customer care team. They got in touch shortly after I left the review and did their best to sort out the issue. After investigating, they sent me a new camera, free of charge. It is now on a trial period to see how the battery consumption is on this one.

Brilliant light adds massive value to the cameras
I bought these to fit with a single camera to mount above my front door.It works brilliantlyPrior to fitting this I would come home in the dark and struggle to find the key hole as the light by my front door is not brilliant, but now it is bright as daylight and it only took about 10 minutes to fit. This is pretty much perfect for me.Connections to the camera are a little fiddly with the camera socket and I have just had a notification to change one of the camera batteries so I will need to see how easy it is to detach and reattach that.Picture is so much clearer with the camera light on – it’s almost like day time.

    The perfect companion to camera
I wanted a good floodlight and found this solution that could work with our blink outdoor camera: couldn’t have asked for better. It I had great integration in to the blink app to allow you to adjust settings, turn on or off and adjust brightness. It can use the camera for motion detection and so works really well with each other. The brightness of the light can be adjusted up and down and even on half brightness, it is really bright and offers a lot of illumination. I cannot see how you could do better if you are looking for an integrated option

    Poor Customer Service
i wish i never bought these cameras now. i’ve have 3 outside cameras and they have played up since i’ve had them. either they don’t record and detect motion, even when the app notifies me there’s motion, it still doesn’t record and the floodlights don’t come on when there’s motion detected or try and switch them on. cut a long story short, i got in touch with Blink about the problem i have with them. i believe they have been hacked. they tried to make me look stupid and said they can’t be hacked. i tried everything they told me to do to get them up and running right down to having a new router. Sky looked into my wifi network and found many unknown devices which i didn’t know about. even with a new router, i was still having problems and Blink said it was the wifi system.they said it was showing error messages so i got in touch with Sky again. they done another diagnostics on my wifi system. no errors or unknown devices. then suddenly, after about a month or so, they said the errors were at their end. i was angry and try to make a complaint for messing me around and stressing me out and making me ill. it made things worse. then another someone else got in touch with me who i felt was hostile towards me. so i had the block their emails as they were upsetting me. but the worse thing is, Amazon who owns Blink have also ignored me over the fact that my account password was found on the darknet and they ignored me when i got in touch with them. i feel this is very worrying with what has happened with Amazon but also with Blink.this is a extremely short brief about Blink and there cameras. so buyer beware, if you have a problem and the system may have been hacked, then they will be hostile towards you, even more so if your Amazon password is on the darknet. i’m stuck between 2 big companies. one saying there end is alright and the other is trying to make me look stupid and to stress me out into giving up on trying to fix my cameras. i have now bought a different make of camera now.

    Camera mount poor
On the face of it this is a good idea. Utilising the notion sensor of the blink camera to operate security lights. Light enabling camera to record a good quality image and obviously a camera to do what cameras do.I should add that I’m a fan of the Blink system having 2 other cameras and a camera doorbell. As an aside I’ve found with settings etc the doorbell battery lasted just about 1yr (fairly high volume of traffic) and the camera batteries, so far, have lasted just over 1yr. Yet to be changed out. However, back to the point in hand.Unit arrives without any instructions. You’re not stupid, you’ll work it out. But still instructions are always good.Unit appears solid and fit for task outdoors. Having 4 D cell batteries there’s a degree of heft to the thing.2 problems that make it a no for me.First the light unit connects to the camera via a small usb connector. Remove the rubber bung from the rear of the camera and slots in nicely, however the rubber seal on the usb connector sits flush against camera. I’ve no confidence that water/moisture will not find it’s way in causing corrosion.Second issue and the main reason why it’s a no for me. The camera mount is so loose. A little brush and the camera is off level. Add that to there being just enough tension on the usb cable that the camera always gets a tilt. There are only so many ways to route the short cable. USB connector is the old type, meaning correct orientation to fit.Other folk on here like it. Maybe I got a bad one.Still a no for me.Why 3 stars? Well, the lights work well, very bright works how I would expect and wanted them to work. Blink camera is a solid little unit that I’ve found to be excellent. The lights operate when the camera detects movement. So yeah, a good little thing. It’s simply the interface between the two that I can’t get over. Lower than 3 would have been unkind
