Superb Camera, really awful software.
This is a superb camera, for the money. Looks the part, quite menacing in it’s black colour form.But what lets this camera down is the god-awful Windows software, it really is bad. For a start, setting this camera up is even more difficult than installing the camera on your outside wall. You have to use your phone or tablet to scan the QR Code on the box, this adds the camera to your phone/tablet app, but not the Windows app. In the Windows app, you have to manually enter your ‘Area’, then modify your area to add your 15-number serial – “Input UID”, then do a search to find your wi-fi, select your wi-fi, then add your router’s details, then goto the “Camera” icon, then click on the region you want. Hopefully, then your camera is online in one of the windows on the right. But this took a long time of trial and error, because the camera kept saying “camera not found”, or “camera offline”, even though it was online in the router’s settings.Once setup, the camera is easy to use. There are buttons to move the camera, but the dome version I purchased doesn’t zoom in or out, despite the advert saying it has zoom, it doesn’t. You can zoom in the camera software, but all this does is zoom the “screen”, not the camera lens.BUT, there is one REALLY annoying button in the Windows software. The middle circular arrow, the button that is surrounded by directional arrows in the PTZ section, bottom left of the software. what this button does is it puts the camera in “Roam” mode, and the camera roams, or rotates the camera automatically, but you can’t switch this off, there is no stop button. And if you try to keep pressing this button the camera keeps roaming, even if you quit the camera software then restart it, the camera KEEPS roaming, and the only way I have found to stop it is to constantly keep pressing one of the directional buttons until it stops – this might take 5+ minutes of constantly pressing the button, OR you power off the camera for at least 5 minutes. So annoying, to a point that this software could make you want to send it back, it’s that bad. I won’t be sending mine back because I spent some time installing the camera high up on one of my exterior walls, and it is a good camera – I will get another one for the back part of my property, but only because I now know how to use the software, and what to avoid doing. The price is low enough to justify getting another camera, and putting up with the awful software.Recording, and taking snapshots is a breeze, and that has worked very well. Although, this is direct to my PC, not a SDcard.If you don’t mind the tinkering with the Windows software, then this is a good-value camera. The phone app is much easier to setup and use, but not that practical when you are at home, it’s more for when you are out.

Great camera for the money
Overall this is a fantastic camera for the money. Came nicely boxed and was easy to install. Instructions were okay but can find some more useful tips on setting up online (youtube)Network seems very stable over the WiFi.Picture quality is good, not amazing but good enough for what i wanted.Setup was fairly easy. Can view on my phone or my pc. At some point i will setup to save directly to my NAS drive but originally when i tried i had issues.My WiFi connection at the camera is around 15-20mb and this seems more than adequate.Some points to improve:- Human detection is not quick enough to react and start recording. Quite often missed what caused the detection. Yes i could go back to previous video but that is 10mins long and would need to skip to the end.- Human detection recordings are only 14 seconds long. Not enough. Want it to continue to record while it detects something rather than having a string of short videos. I maybe wrong but i cannot seem to improve upon this in the settings.- Detection areas. The phone and the desktop apps do not link. So never sure which to tweak.- If a human moves quickly the camera does not keep up with them. (really not that quick though)- Sometimes i have found that the camera does not always return to position 1 and stays in a strange position after a detection.One huge positive is the customer support i have received. Before i purchased and afterwards i have emailed their customer support team and every time i have received a reply quickly and with lots of useful information. 5* for customer service, fantastic, keep it up.I feel that this camera deserves 5* but just needs a couple of tweaks for me. Should these get sorted in the future then i will edit my review. For now though i fully recommend this camera for the house or as a friend of mine has done, for his business.

Die Kamera hängt im Garten und überwacht den gesamten Eingangsbereich.10 Meter vom Haus weg über wlan problemlos.Dank des 180 Grad Schwenks könnte ich (verbotenerweise) auch Teile des Nachbargrundstück überwachen.Wenn ein Objekt erkannt ist, folgt sie diesem in seiner Bewegung nach rechts oder links.Die Installation der App war ein Kinderspiel, selbst für technisch nicht affine Menschen so wie ich.Keine 5 Minuten und ich konnte die Bilder auf meinem Handy sehen und die Kamera über die App steuern.Dank der tollen Unterstützung durch Candy Jiang von ctronics sind die SD Karten zügig eingetroffen und die ersten Fragen beantwortet.Würde sie wieder kaufen.
