Great alternative to a subscription service
Bought this for an elderly parent who has become unsteady on their feet and has early dementia. We looked at a lot of alternatives but most involved a monthly subscription and the problem that if the button is pushed, all you know is the person needs help. If youâre not in the same building as them this causes stress & can make the person less likely to use the button.This unit is basically a tiny preprogrammed one button mobile phone. When you push the button (itâs marked SOS) it dials a preprogrammed number (up to 3 numbers) until someone answers. You can then speak to the person and find out the problem. It has lots of other features , like geo fencing, fall detection, gps location etc. These can all be turned on and off from a phone app. But the ability to be able just to talk to the person who had pressed the sos button, was the clincher for us. We bought a simple cheap SIM card where we pay 1p a minute for calls. Overall it has been a brilliant purchase, highly recommended. Battery lasts about 3-4 days at a time.
