Keep your expectations low and you wonât be disappointed
This action camera is the same format as many others on the market with a box body, a lens and power button on the front, a shutter/start-stop button on the top, connectors on the side and battery enclosure on the bottom. It comes with an underwater casing which is waterproof and a range of accessories for attaching it to things like helmets, bike handlebars, tripods, etc. A remote control is included so you can control the basic functions like starting and stopping recording remotelyThe important thing, of course, with an action camera is image quality and sound. The image quality is OK. It isnât amazing but it isnât terrible either. I found it a bit jittery on the 4K settings and found the 1080 settings better. I donât know for sure but Iâm pretty sure it is not true 4K and is upsampled.Optical Image Stabilisation is useless. It is the electronic variety so crops the image slightly so that it can try to maintain a steady image by moving the image around using the outer, cropped edges, to appear to be smoother. However, this has a âjellyâ effect on the image and is quite irritating to watch. It is better with the shaking in my opinion.Still photos are no good at all and I wouldnât use this camera for those. Youâll much better pictures using a phone.The underwater case has a good seal and the two buttons can still be operated. Of course sound is affected because the microphone is on the camera and that is sealed in the box but that is the case with any of these cameras.It comes with two rechargeable batteries together with a case that can go in and which recharges them if it is plugged in.The sound is OK but you do get quite a bit of noise if it is windy. It also comes with an external microphone which is quite unusual for these cameras. This microphone plugs into a port on the side of the camera and has a foam cover to reduce wind noise. I would be more inclined to use the external microphone when outside and in windy conditions.As long as you donât expect GoPro level image quality then you wonât be disappointed with this camera but if that is important to you I would spend a bit more money for a better camera.
