Multi-function smart functions: Supports smart modes such as remote control, timer switching, scene linkage, etc., can preset the start and stop time of the water heater, and solve the trouble of forgetting to turn on/off the water heater
Voice ecosystem compatibility: Seamless integration with mainstream voice assistants such as Alexa and Google Home, device control through simple voice commands, bringing a smarter and more convenient home life experience
Network expansion capability: Requires a ZigBee hub to connect to the network. The built-in ZigBee signal repeater function effectively expands the coverage of the smart home network and enhances the overall system signal stability

Good quality switch for high power appliances
Although this smart switch is suitable for use with a wide range of higher power appliances, given that MOES have marked the on position with three wiggly âheaterâ lines unlike their other switches it is clear this is aimed at use with room heaters and water heaters. Itâs good to see this is a double pole switch meaning both the live and neutral lines are switched, unlike normal light switches and sockets where only the live is switched. This is a necessity for high power appliances. At 30mm deep this switch requires a particularly deep pattress box, however high power appliance switches are often mounted with surface boxes rather than recessed into the wall so swapping an existing box for a deeper one is not much of an issue. Of course as with any electrical wiring only attempt to fit this if you are suitably experienced and knowledgable in such things, if in doubt employ a professional. It is worth noting that although the headline figure is 20A this switch is also only rated to 3.5kW which means here in the UK with a supply of around 230V this actually means just over 15A max. This should be fine for most heaters/water heaters as 3kW is the norm.Unlike some cheaper Wi-Fi switches this connects using Zigbee and therefore requires a suitable Zigbee gateway. Presumably if you are looking at this you are already aware of what additional equipment is necessary and indeed the benefits of Zigbee over Wi-Fi. I found this quick to connect and set up with Home Assistant and it is so far working reliably. If you need a Zigbee switch for higher power appliances this is a great choice. I have had a few 13A smart switches fail when used with loads towards their maximum rating as the internal relays donât like being switched whilst under a high load and fuse together. It will be interesting to see how this switch copes with the 3kW water heater and I will update this review if anything fails.

Smart Control for Water Heater
You need a ZigBee hub to make this work. The switch itself needs to be wired into the water heater circuit, which might require help if you aren’t comfortable with electrical work. Once installed and paired with my hub using the app, I could see its status on my phone. Now, I set schedules for when the water heater should turn on, like in the morning before I need hot water, and turn off later. I can also turn it on or off remotely using the app or voice commands through Alexa. This gives me hot water when I need it and helps avoid wasting electricity by heating water all day. If you have a water heater and a ZigBee system, this switch is a practical addition.
