Customers say

Customers find the thermostat easy to set up with detailed app instructions and appreciate its functionality and control capabilities, particularly its ability to set schedules for different rooms and create multiple heating zone programs. The temperature control and wireless connectivity receive mixed feedback – while customers praise the temperature control features, some report that rooms can get very cold, and the wireless receiver keeps disconnecting. The app functionality and value for money are also mixed, with some customers loving the app while others report it stops working after 25 months, and while some find it saves money, others consider it expensive.

    Works great! I’d reccomend.
I put this in my self, of course I have sound logic I would think so if you don’t then maybe don’t attempt it. Otherwise it’s fairly easy, just use your intuition and read the instructions they’re not hard to follow either they give you plenty of help on the instructions.
The device it’s self is wireless and handy, comes with a bridge which tbh is a bit annoying wish it was standalone. I see people complain about how if power goes out etc, we’ll if ur power goes out ur boiler turns off anyways.
If your WiFi goes out, then you can go to the boiler and manually turn off heating / on from the tado control box in there or just on the boiler it’s self. It’s not hard, dry your tears and just go back to manual until ur wifi is up?
The temprature control is easy, however it’s not energy efficient until your purchase additional units for other rooms the radiator valves are on my list to get next I believe they will save on energy due to having the ability to control individual rooms.
Even though when they’re on sale, the new thermostats for the rads are a bit expensive sadly, hopefully in due time I can get some thought without breaking the bank too much.

    Excellent so far….
Living in an old house with thick granite walls put me off investing in the original Tado system (V3+) however the Tado X system overcomes that with a newer communication protocol. I have an oil fired boiler with a gravity fed system/hot water cylinder and currently have 15 radiator smart thermostats installed plus the Bridge X and room temperature sensor and all communicating fine plus all linked with Alexa and the Echo Smart Home widget. Install and setup was a breeze (although if you’re not comfortable with wires then best to get someone who is for the central heating controller although Tado does provide a step-by-step guide with pictures) as was linking with Alexa.
Now, I have control over the house on a room-by-room schedule rather than previously where there was no control and the whole house was heated, very inefficient. I can now have the bedroom and en-suite warm for getting up without heating the whole house and set daily schedules for each room in the house depending on where we spend the most time. So far the house is certainly more comfortable and while I haven’t had it long enough to estimate any savings in fuel oil consumption the boiler does appear to be running way less than previously which is a good sign.
This will also control your hot water feed to the cylinder and includes similar schedules as the heating zones/rooms however I have this feature turned off at the moment as I’m controlling on an immersion heater and have plans to add some smart thermostat technology in that area as well that will tie in with the Tado control (although won’t be fully integrated).
In summary, brilliant system and time will tell over battery life/reliability etc but if the previous system is anything to go by then this shouldn’t be a worry.
One final point to note is that if you intend to configure within Alexa then you may need to upgrade your Echo devices to ensure that they support Matter (easily done, just search Amazon site for this information). Most do however worth checking.

    Great smart thermostat
I’ve installed this today to replace a Google nest e that has had constant connectivity issues and this was so easy to install. All connected first time via the app no issues at all. Took me around 30 minutes.
I’ll be adding tado radiator valves to all the radiators as soon as they arrive to give me full control to heat rooms independently.
The setup is very straight forward, you install the Tado app on your phone create an account. Then add the thermostat, internet bridge & receiver for the boiler by scanning a QR code from each device, if they don’t scan (one of them didn’t for me) you can just enter the serial number and code from the label. After you ad each device the app guides you through the installation steps.
    A few things to note:
    1. The internet bridge has a very short usb cable (to power it), not been an issue in my setup but if you don’t have a plug or usb socket near to where your plugging it into your internet router or switch you may need a longer one. A lot of routers have usb sockets on so if you do that will make it really easy for you.
    2. On my setup it told me to use a separate power plug to power the live & neutral wires for the boiler receiver. This seemed odd but it may have been simply because I had selected the instructions for replacing the Google nest. In my case I just wired these into the live and neutral feed of the boiler.
When installing this yourself make sure you have the power supply to the boiler turned off, the app asks you to double check this with an electrical tester too! And if your not sure get an electrician or plumber to install this for you.
    3. Some of the functionality requires a subscription, nothing that will stop you using the app or thermostat but if you want your heating to automatically turn off if your away from home and turn on when your back you will need to pay €25 per year. I understand why they do this as there is a cost to host these services but I’ll be integrating this into my smart home setup using Home assistant so will be able to have the same functionally without the tado subscription. You could probably achieve this using ittt too.
So far I have only used this for a day but will update this review if I come across any issues but so far compared to my previous Google nest e the Tado thermostat seems much better and more importantly reliable. With the added functionally with the additional Tado radiator valves it should also save me money heating only the rooms I need to at the times I set.
