I bought this “150W” transformer to supply a 50W load (I know, I’ve measured the current at 4A and the volts at 12v, so 48W). But it got super hot and started turning the LEDs on and off after just a few minutes. Woefully over-rated. Had to change it for a 300W model (to power a 50W load?)

Was recommended this by a friend who used it for a similar purpose.I have bought two and they work well. Just make sure to over spec slightly and you wonât have issues with overheating. Mine run at approx 60-80% capacity for hours without issue. Sometimes I get a bit of a delay between the two turning on from the same switch but not an huge issue.I am slightly concerned about the exposed terminals which small fingers could get into. Will need to find a way to cover these in the near future.

I’ve bought a few of these power supplies. I can’t be happier with the price and performance. This will work for anything needing 24 volt not just lights. Just make sure you size it appropriately for power draw. I use these to restore antique master clocks. These clocks use 24 volt to send signals to control the other clocks in its circuit. They have been running nonstop for over a year and still perfect. It’s crazy how these antique clocks used to have a AC to 24 volt convertor that was the size of 2 car batteries and now as small as a cell phone.
