Not wired up properly inside
As with at least one other customer below, mine had the tip of the socket connected to the ring of the plug, and the ring of the socket connected to the tip of the plug. Using with headphones, this means that left and right channels are swapped; if used for balanced audio, it inverts polarity. Basic manufacturing defect.
