Quiet and powerful desktop fan with one major flaw.
As I write this review summer has just started and we are experiencing a mini heatwave. So what better circumstances to test the fan. Phillips is a brand with a lot of history so I had high hopes for this desktop fan.The box is quite large and looks to be entirely recyclable. Inside you have the fan and some documentation. The fan is much bigger than the images portray. It really is quite chunky with a large handle that forms part of the frame. Rather than the large diameter but shallow fan the design is actually quite deep but with a smaller blade than your regular desk fan. The base is quite sizeable and features touch sensitive buttons. These aren’t that easy to identify and could do with some more tactically to make them easier to identify. As one of the main features of this fan is it’s relative quietness making it useful at night. So being able to find the buttons in the dark would be a help. The fan has 3 speed settings as well as night function, and a sleep timer. In sleep mode it is remarkably quiet and shifts a good amount of air. Crank it up and it does get noisier but not significantly. For me the major flaw is the lack of any form of oscillation mode. Consider the size of the base you think this would have been pretty easy to implement. However there is a reasonable amount of adjustment.A power but quiet fan that puzzlingly lacks an oscillation mode common to so many of its competitors. The large base means it takes up a lot more room than it should but it does remain stable. However it does shift a large amount of air for its size and its well suited to the bedroom due to its relative quietness and timer.

Powerful and quiet fan with a cool design from well known brand
I was intrigued to order this fan, as the design seemed somewhat unique and different. And, that’s one of it’s most mentioned features when visitors see it! They take interest and ask what it is – great social selling point to spread the word! The fan is the perfect size to either place on a table top of bookshelf top, or to have on the floor in the corner of a room. As you would expect , everything is well made and good quality, smooth movement of the angle bracket, and a lovely touch sensor control pad. The fan itself is powerful & out performs some of my other standard table fans, yet is also less noisy. It has Adjustable Tilt of 180 degrees so can be placed high or low depending on what you prefer. I have mine on top of a bookshelf in the corner of the room and it cools the room down nicely – even though there is no rotation. The touch control has 3 Speeds, and there is also a variable 12h timer. It’s a nice fan, performs well, looks cool, and is from a brand leader. Certainly worth 5 stars from me.

Quite chunky!
So, first impressions of this are that it is quite a beast! It’s a lot bigger than I expected – when something is described as a “table fan” I imagined something small and portable. This looks like a searchlight, and is pretty hefty! I guess by “table” they mean “not pedestal”?That aside, it is a really good fan. It is quiet – the motor barely makes any noise, the majority of the sound is air movement which you can’t really do much about. It’s not too powerful, in that it won’t blow a hurricane and destroy your house, but it is effective! The air it blows is most definitely cooler than the ambient air temp. Yesterday evening it was pretty warm, and my partner had no shirt on. He was shivering after a couple of minutes sat in front of it!There are a lot of controls on the fan – all electrical buttons – that can vary the speed, intensity, timer, and (the best IMO) set a natural breeze, which is quite pleasant to sit by.There is also an app (yes, an app for a FAN) – the only benefit to which I can make out is acting like a remote control. Easy to set up & use though. The fan does not oscillate (side-to side), but can be tilted at various degrees up & down. TBH I’ve not found much use for this, as generally I want it pointed at me not the celling. The build quality is good, exactly as you would expect from Philips.Overall, it’s a really good fan for the price. The size of it & lack of oscillation are the only things that really let it down.Would recommend.
Customer Review –
Nice air stream
Typically I got this just as the spring heat went and we ended up with weeks of cold wind and rain again. So I’ve not had this in the heat. But it seems decent. It’s actually a little bit bigger than I thought it was going to be. It’s quiet for the size. The stream of air is very direct. It does not oscillate – it doesn’t claim it can, but, some people assume it does.

This is an awesome little fan, it pushes a good amount of air just like most decent circulator fans, and has a nice “natural breeze” feature that varies the fan speed making it comfortable to use over long periods. It’s a bummer that it does not have an auto left-right oscillation. I mistakenly thought that it would oscillate from the shape/design of the fan.

I have a studio apartment and using it almost 100% when I am at home.. itâs very quiet at minimum speed .. enough air flow for one person of course.. itâs good if you donât mind moving it left -right to position -as itâs not oscillating..

No have rotate function. Very inconvenient.
