don’t wait to download your digital files to a hard drive, do it now.The process of transferring from digital mini tapes is laborious.thank goodness this adapter plus a couple of thunderbolt adapters make the transfer possible

It works!!
Fantastic. This connector lets me connect my old Canon DV camcorder to my Mac so I can download and keep all my family movies. Basically it connects a FireWire 400 plug on the camera cable to a FireWire 800 port on the Mac. The Mac software is apparently backward compatible so it handles the FireWire 400 traffic properly and even controls the camcorder. Worked reliably and first time. Good value too.

Life saver! Old Mini DV tape with old camcorder and a 2011 MacBook Pro. No other cable worked until I got this and a thunderbolt adapter! Now watching old recordings on Olex!

Adaptor for connection from digital 8 camera to pc
Used with official Apple firewire cable to connect digital 8 camera to pc. This being the widely recommended solution. The adaptor is quite a tight fit on the firewire cable but once connected up pc says it does not recognise that anything is connected

Perfect for the job. Solid connectors with input. Next day delivery. And worked straight away to connect old camcorder with mini tapes to iMac 2011 version using DV to FireWire 400 connector plus this FireWire 400 to 800 connector direct to Mac. If required – add a FireWire to lightning connector if itâs a newer apple laptop or iMac.

The adapter works well as a set of 4 adapters from a video camera to a MacBook Pro. works well.
Tried many ways/products to transfer mini DV tapes from Canon camcorder into iMac/laptop with no luck. None of the USB/thunderbolt adaptors were recognized by my computers. I dug out an old MacBook Pro with a firewall port and using this adaptor I was able to stream movies into the laptop. Will trim them there or push onto and SD card and transfer to MAcAir or iMac. I was about to give up until I found this simple solution.
