Excellent product at a bargain price
This karabina-type breakaway cable is a quality replacement for the original equipment fitted to Al-Ko and BPW chassis, and at probably half the price. It can be directly hooked on to a suitable attachment point on the tow vehicle, unlike the spring-clip type of cable, which must be looped back on itself. The strong split-ring at the handbrake connection is a bit fiddly to fit (gloves, a wide screwdriver and thin-nosed pliers are recommended to avoid skinned knuckles and foul language!), but still easier to fit than the hook-type connection on the Al-Ko product, which really needs a portable vice to close it up. Just remember to disconnect the split-ring first, and feed the cable back through the guide hole under the caravan/trailer drawbar, then reconnect the cable loop and split-ring at the handbrake end.

great replacement breakaway cable
Purchased to replace a tired breakaway cable on our caravan due to the coating being worn and broken in places. Great replacement although not the easiest to fit as the ring clasp is very tight but now its fitted I am confident it will do the job and looks so much betterTook less than 5 mins to fit so overall pleased with purchase

Quality made
Took a bit of a punt on this as it seemed so much cheaper than one from a stockist, I wasn’t expecting much but boy was I wrong. Good thick cable and very robust fittings, it took about one minute to fit on my ifor Williams trailer as it fits directly to the bottom of the manual hand brake. I will definitely buy another one of these when I undoubtedly forget to unhook it before driving off like I did the last time.

Top quality at bargain price
Bought this to replace the one on my caravan which was a bit tired looking, but I’d also seen in Caravanning and Camping Club magazine that the older spring clip type are not strong enough to hook on to your tow ball eye and will fail if you do! They recommended that type should only be looped back round the tow ball and clipped back to its own cable. This new type with carabineer clip is much stronger and can be securely clipped on to the breakaway cable connection eye (if yours has one), without the worry of the old type lifting over and off the tow ball.

The cable was very strong, the only problem I found was the O ring was larger than I expected and was too big to fit on the hand brake.
