    Handy little tester
Does the job, but feels a bit cheap.Been using it in a work environment now for around six months and still seems to do this job okay.

    Perfect For ICT Technicians
Simple and easy to read.It really is a plug and play bit of kit. This has recently saved me lots of money. I don’t need to call in a third party for simply queries. I can now locate and get the measurement to a damaged cable. And I don’t need to call back companies who forget to label a port here and there (drives me crazy). Just test the patch pannel with the main unit, move from port to port until you locate your adapter that is connected to the numberless port at the other end. Even more certainly is when you head to the adapter you will hear it buzzing away.It would probably cost £60 for someone to pop in had number the port. But by getting this, im sure to save much more in the future.5*****

Item is faulty after 1 month and cannot get a replacment
This item is faulty after one month and I am a few days out of the return policy and do not have any option to have it replaced. So much for warranty on these items from this supplier.I would not recommend use this company, buy the products elsewhere!!

    Excellent tester, at the price
This is an impressive tester at the price, and comes in a useful soft case. I’m pleased with it but it does have a weakness or two. I’ve managed to achieve everything I wanted, so far. The unintuitive nature of it didn’t help but I soon found my way around.Physically, I find it quite cheap looking, in rather hard, rigid plastic. But it works, it’s inexpensive and I reckon it’s actually quite rugged, able to tolerate knocks. The display is a good one, easy enough to read in any light. I do wish it weren’t so easy to switch the tester on by accident though. The instructions aren’t bad but very annoyingly they’re bent to get them in the box and don’t willingly unbend. They’re written in pretty good English although I doubt if the writer was a native English speaker.Functionally, it works well and offers a comprehensive set of capabilities. The only missing tests I can think of are speed and noise, but you’d probably have to pay a lot more to get those. It manages measure lengths surprisingly accurately. And I like the way the remote beeps when connected, if the tester is already on the other end, where it could be out of sight and hearing. Very useful. There are several unexpected touches like that.Enough. I’ve more work to do with this but I’m enjoying doing it. It may be imperfect but, given the price, currently £59.99 less 20% voucher, hence £47.99, it makes a very good buy.

Sort of works, but has issues.
Well this product is ok, but has some issues:1: Calculating where the break in the cable requires you to enter in the length of cable used, i.e. no auto detection, I set it for 10m (32.8 feet) on one 10m cable, yet said a completely different length for another 10m cable.2: The wiring checker is hit and miss if you get a loud beeping and flashing wire pairs as if there is a fault yet says all is fine.Overall this product is ok, but if you are going to use this a lot and you need to test stuff then I would go for the more expensive better product.

Simple test unit which does the job
I have got pretty exhausted with the vagaries of wifi so now make as much use as possible of hard wiring with Ethernet cable. I tend to make my own cable as I then know it will be of the correct length for the task required. But when one does that there is always the risk of misaligning the small wires within the ethernet case cable. This little unit is a simple way of testing whether the cable if correctly configured and also estimating the length of the cable. It comes with four batteries and eight remote adapters. To test a cable take it out of the device at one end (obviously you should check that you are not going to be disconnecting anything which is mission critical!) and plug into the remote adapter. Then find the other end of the cable – not always easy in some locations. Once found plug into the main unit. Testing is simple and will tell you whether everything is wired correctly and also estimate the length of the cable. In my case both estimates of length were inaccurate (they were both too high). You can calibrate the machine to correct this over estimation. I haven’t bothered as the length isn’t a critical issue for me.I can imagine this being very useful in a small office environment when cables are hidden and someone wants to know which cable is which. The price at almost £60 at the time of this review, seems a little on the high side, but if it solves an IT problem or two for you then it will be worth every penny.

This devices works! Saved a lot of time mapping out the network connections, tells you if a wire is shorted, and reports the length of the cable being tested. Only the handheld unit requires batteries, which were included. This device paid for itself in just a couple of hours.

the best cable tester u can buy if u cant afford a fluk .. however do note the length functionality is lacking, doesn’t save ur preset, so if ur a diagnosing bad cable and need to know how far away is the damage, this here will get u there eventually, but not as fast a fluk would. Other than that the 7 wiretaps saves the day.

The headline says it all. The VXSCAN 8 cable tester checks the most important boxes for me. I am a little more than just an occasional ethernet / telecom DIY’er. I’ve been maintaining our multi-building residential property for more than a quarter century since when we built this place and included Cat-5 (at the time) in-wall throughout the two structures and which also features underground conduit containing 25-twisted pair, Cat-5, coax etc. etc. along with several punch-blocks on both ends. So, verification of integrity of continuity over rather inconvenient distances for telecom, multiple DSL ethernet and now StarLink has been greatly facilitated with this very cool device. It’s just that simple … not complicated.

So, I tried doing a video, but there is just to much to add and not enough space to upload to Amazon. With that being said, it’s $55 bucks, with 8 mappers, length function and cable testing. Out of the 8 mappers, only 1 did not play any sound when connected. You have 2 measurement settings, meters or feet. No matter if you change it to feet, it always changes back to meters. If you calibrate it to be more accurate, it doesn’t really seem to acknowledge that. I’ve tried 3 different cable lengths on good Cat 6 cables, and it’s always 1-2 feet off from the calibration. The mappers are good, they play two different sounds when connected, a on and off tone for a good connection with all 8 conductors reading good and solid alarm for a bad cable. It does take a few seconds for the unit to find the connected mapper. The unit has a COAX/TEL setting, but no COAX or RJ11 hook ups.It is backlit, with an auto off function. It uses 4 AA batteries and comes with a cheap mess case. Now, the only tester I had to compare this to was a Klein Scout Pro 3 or VDV501-851 which is the cheaper entry model of the Scout Pro 3 line up and does not come with mappers or POE function like that other 2 models but it is the closest in price at $90.Compared to the cheaper model, the Klein does keep it’s calibration very well on length tests, it does not play a sound when connected to the remote like the cheaper model does. This Klein model does do Port Flashing which really helps when you’re looking for ports on a switch which is what I really got it for. It does has RJ-11 and Coax hook ups unlike the cheaper model. Now, with the cheaper model, you’re not paying $100 for a cable tester that has mappers but you get what you pay for in quality and functionAll in all, if you’re just getting into doing network troubleshooting, mainly testing Cat cables that you’re building or want to make sure your house doesn’t have network wiring, then this is just as good as an expensive model. If you’re using it every single day for your job, do your self a favor, save up one or two more pay checks and get a nice, fully function network tester like the VDV501-853 or maybe you work with security cameras like I do and get your self an all in one network and security camera tester like the Rsrteng RSO-6510 that I use at work which also does fiber cable testing.
