Your first and last Homelab
This is the only rack you will ever need… at least until you decide to go taller.The 10 inch rack form factor has taken off in recent years and rightly so as it is the perfect size for a Homelab. There are entire communities dedicated to mini racks and plenty of mounting options for all types of hardware via 3D printing so you can’t go wrong.In order to get started on your mini rack journey you need to pick a rack. This one is very well made. It is strong and sturdy and I can’t find a reason to fault it. It also looks very nice on a shelf. I found that the 4U model was the perfect size and it fits nicely into shelving units such as the Ikea Kallax/Expedit.The only issue I found was a missing rubber foot but GeeekPi were very supportive and a week later I had a replacement straight from the factory.

If You Want To Delve Into The World Of Homelabs Then This Is For You
I discovered Raspberry PI 5 earlier this year and from that started getting into homelabs and projects. The GeeekPi 4U Server Cabinet is a simple and painless way to get into building your own servers and projects and keeping them in a well-built case. On delivery you get a box containing all the parts – it is self-assembly – and those parts are vey well built and sturdy. It took me about half an hour to assemble – you also get the tools needed to do that assembly, so no need to hunt around for the right sized screwdriver. If the T0 cabinet is too small for your needs, then GeekPi also sell larger ones called T1 and T2. GeekPi also sell a huge range of accessories to add to the case – shelves, panels etc. and the nice thing is that those accessories are quite cheap.

Great product, bit expensive on the accesories, better buy the GeeekPi 8U Server Cabinet 10 inch as it will include more accesories, then buy them individualy after that.

This has got to be the cutest little rack I’ve ever seen and is superbly engineered.I’m using it in my lounge beside the couch where my broadband service enters my apartment and my home network branches in a couple of directions. Previously it was aa tangled mess hidden by a chair, now I’m super proud and love showing off the rack.I have a full size 19inch rack in my home office with my main network equipment but this little thing is my absolute favourite and looks a million bucks!And the packaging, just wow, felt like a kid with a new Lego set assembling it. Even the tools provided are quality and will go in my toolbox.At the back I have double-taped a eight socket power board and two of the DeskPi 12cm USB fans.On the cabinet is a G.Fast modem, inside is a Ubiquiti 10G switch, two POE injectors and all the cables tidily packed out of the way and under the injectors is a DeskPi 10 port ethernet patch panel.I also had to buy the fans and an extra blanking plate. The Ubiquiti 10G switch runs hot and cooling became an issue so I run the fans on low and now everything is always cool.My fav touch is the little patch panel and 15cm orange patch leads, it just makes it all look so professional but in a cute way.God I love this baby rack!! 🙂

Grab this while on sale, I’m not sure it’s worth the value otherwise. There are other 10″ rack manufacturers, which are cheaper. I’d keep this in mind when buying accessories and look for other manufacturers.However, the quality and packaging are premium, and you will get great value.
