GeeekPi 10U Open Frame Network Rack:Compared to the shorter rack that I have and others that I have seen, this one is simpler to put together but they didn’t skimp on the presentation and the quality because opening the box was very satisfying.The four pillars have grooves covered by clear silicone that you can slide some LED lighting through. I have no plans to use this, but if I were, then it would either be all red, all green or some sort of ultraviolet looking purple glow.Screw drivers are provided to assist with the installation and it shouldn’t really take that long.The next part is adding your units to it. It is lightweight but won’t be for long.In all honesty, as a stand alone thing, it is expensive for what it is when you break down the basics. Maybe if you have the tools and are good with metal works you could fashion your own for peanuts. Here you are paying for a quality product from an experienced brand; and I would rather do that.Someone complained in their review that the screw holes are not uniformly spaced but you can just about make out in the listing photos that this is the idea but it is not highlighted in the description. I can see the same thing on mine and I could also clearly see that there is a repetitive pattern going all the way down and can only assume this is just to allow you to figure out the right level or to close gaps between units if you want to stack it tightly. Outside of the very top and very bottom screw holes that the frame attaches to, every 3 holes consist of 2 that are closer together.(o oo o oo o oo o oo o)Hopefully the circles in the brackets make this clearer.

Why I Chose This ProductI have been working on setting up a home lab for a while now, and I am particularly looking to set up a Raspberry Pi cluster. So naturally, I need a nice server rack that doesn’t take up too much space, and yes, looks cool while sitting on display. I have had a number of rack solutions on my wish list, and this won out for its size and versatility, as well as the fact that it is made of durable aluminum.My Experience Using ItWhen this rack arrived, I could not wait to open the box. And it did not disappoint! I love how well it is packaged; it immediately has a premium feel to it. It comes with everything you need to get it built, and I mean everything. It even came with two screwdrivers needed for assembly that are reasonably enough quality to keep around in your tool bag. Everything except for the feet and the handles of the screwdriver are made of metal or aluminum. This thing is built to last and do it in style. I love that the outside corner edges are suitable for lights, which is right up my alley. It is lightweight and sturdy, but the metal handles make it even easier to move around. The assembly is easy; the holes are well drilled; everything about this rack is quality.Aside from the presentation of opening the product box, the other thing that stood out to me was the fact, and I did not know this when I ordered it, that it has a link from the manufacturer to a whole bunch of 3D models that you can download and print for finishing your rack setup. This was a pleasant surprise because I expected I would have to hunt for 3D parts to print or buy more parts from them to complete my setup. I am looking forward to printing these and building my portable home lab.Final ThoughtsThis server rack exceeded my expectations in just about every way, and the manufacturer has definitely won me over. I will be purchasing other parts for this rack and definitely be printing out a number of the parts they provide.
