Solid mouse, but weighty for FPS and a few other niggles too.
I’ve had a few mice in my time, I have still got a fair few mice because sometimes I like a change and a bit of variety. So I was looking forward to receiving this one as, it ticks a few boxes. To go off on a tangent, this is a replacement for the first mouse that was sent – I say first mouse, I actually received a pack of Tarot cards, which, while wireless, doesn’t move a mouse pointer on screen, although the Death card might help with headshots. So, second time the charm, it actually arrived in the typical Corsair yellow and black box. Inside the box, you get the mouse, the receiver (you can use it wired or Bluetooth as well) and a cable for charging. The cable is, again, atypical for Corsair being long and braided and if you’ve had one of their cables, it’s identical. It’s not a bad cable – don’t get me wrong – it’s just their standard one.The mouse had practically a full charge on arrival, so popping the receiver into a port and turning the mouse on worked immediately. I pulled up the Corsair Hub, which the last mouse of theirs used and…… nope. You have to resort to iCue which is annoying as I kinda hoped that they were moving away from iCue with their new mice and keyboards but alas, nope. Installing iCue again, fine and running it showed my RAM (yeah I don’t use iCue JUST for the RAM LED’s – that’s meh) and the wireless dongle. No mouse. Ok, clicked on it and it asks what peripheral of about 10 am I pairing it with – erm, the one it’s talking to?? Oh, no you need to pair it says iCue. But…but….it’s WORKING. Nah yeah nah, pair it again. Which took 2 attempts. Dunno why, but first time it was if the mouse just shrugged it’s buttons in disbelief. OK, says iCue, I see the mouse now and I’ve added the module. Now restart me. Ohhhh FF….. ok ok at least it’s not restarting the PC. Another restart later and the mouse is there and I can configure the buttons and LED illumination, DPI etc. OK we’re good to go…….finally.Now the current mouse of choice is a Gravastar – which I pictured next to this one to get an idea of size difference etc. The Ironclaw is comfortable in the palm, with a nice rubber grip on both sides for your thumb and Anular finger. The back/forward side buttons are in a decent placement for once, although the third button, in the middle of the two above them is a bit odd – it’s not ideal to hit with your thumb so it feels like you should press it with the rear of your index finger. Yes I know that sounds weird but….. that’s how it feels.Another limitation as such – you can only have (technically) 3 DPI stages per DPI profile. There is no mechanism in the software to have 4 or more stages and this seems to be due to the fact that there are 3 bars on the left side of the mouse in front of where you thumb sits. There illuminate when cycling the DPI stages on the mouse to position top, middle or bottom, representing each of the 3 stages. This would be easy to circumvent by simply making the LED colour represent your DPI level rather than a physical placement but no. You can however have multiple profiles – so 2 profiles would give 6 stages and cycle between the profiles would do it, but that’s more complex than it need be.Weight wise, it’s MUCH heavier than the Gravastar mouse by a huge margin which then translates to how heavy/hard it is to move around on the desk or mouse mat. As it markets itself for MOBA and FPS, the weight doesn’t readily lend itself to FPS in comparison, so honestly, if you JUST play FPS and want a light mouse, then look elsewhere such as the Gravastar or the Corsair Sabre V2 (which doesn’t use iCue).Playing Destiny with it, you notice that while it reacts fine, it IS more wearisome to play compared to the lighter mouse. It’s fine for a casual game, but for a 3 hours raid session, it notices. I didn’t have issues with accuracy once I got used to the extra weight and getting the DPI balance right (the handy thing with a profile – you can have FPS DPI , Desktop DPI and MOBA DPI). Having said that, if you’re used to a heavier mouse, then you won’t worry about it at all, but if you are used to a light mouse, then yeah, you’re going to notice it.Playing Diablo which is less impactful compared to an FPS, then it’s fine. I don’t need to move it about as much and in some ways, the weight lends itself better to that game being less frantic on the mouse and more keyboard smash as such. Having a few more buttons also helps to configure, so I have both health potion and evade on the mouse, making it less keyboard strokes as such – again, it depends on what you’re used to and what you play. There’s a lot to like about the physical mouse. It’s comfortable, it has a fair few buttons but not so many it’s unwieldy. The rubber grips also add to the comfort and it feels solid in the hand. However, if you are an FPS junkie and play everything from PUBG to CS2, then you might prefer a lighter mouse. If you don’t mind the weight, only 3 DPI stages per profile and iCue instead of their nice Web portal, then it’s something worth looking at.

The successor to the original Iron Claw but it still has one jarring issue
Corsair Iron Claw Wireless SE Gaming Mouse is honestly a pretty good product. It fixes some of the flaws of the previous iron clone models and in usage I found it to be robust, with good connectivity, good customisability, and good to use.The mouse is of a relatively large size, making it suitable for medium to large-sized hands and is comfortable in a palm grip especially. Derived in standard Corsair packaging but it would be a very suitable gift for any person who enjoys playing games and would benefit from a well-performing wireless peripheral.I use this mouse playing first-person tactical shooters and I found that the mouse buttons are very tactile and easy to use, and comfortable. But a big flaw that I’ve found with this product is:1. Poor online documentation2. Poor physical documentationIt was only through trial and testing that I was able to understand what the different buttons did in changing the profile that the mouse uses. Furthermore I was disappointed to find that the profile button cannot be reassigned to be an alternative use button. For myself I would not benefit necessarily from a profile button. I only really play one game that requires profiles so I really think I would benefit from five extra buttons but actually two of them are exclusively for changing the profile. At the time of order this mouse was £91.98. At time of review this mouse has decreased in price. It is currently £83.99 and on offer for £79.99, both still acceptable prices for a product that is of robust quality by a reputable brand with good connectivity and good use cases for larger hands and makes playing tactical shooters or games that require extra buttons to enjoy at their best. I think if you have a need for a robust wireless peripheral then this could be a good item for you.But again I honestly think for the price there should be much better documentation and that perhaps the mouse was rolled out a bit too soon, as to not provide that.

Great Quality Mouse For Larger Hands
A very comfortable and versatile mouse from Corsair. I’ve used many Corsair peripherals in the past and was excited to test this mouse. It shares the same good build quality as other Corsair products, the structure is strong and sturdy yet lighter than you would expect for a wireless mouse of this size. It is definitely built for larger hands, being considerably wider than my Logitech G502 wireless, however I personally have large hands and therefore found it very comfortable and easy to move around. All of the buttons are very tactile and responsive. There are a total of 10 remappable buttons on the mouse, some of which take a bit of time to get used to the placement and pressing them during activities. It is very easily customisable to suit your preferences via Corsairs ICUE software. You can change the DPI, lighting, button mapping, polling rate and more. You can either use it with ICUE running with the set profiles or you can actually save profiles and mapping to the memory on the mouse and therefore don’t need ICUE running on every computer you use it on.The 26K sensor is really nice, very accurate and quick to respond to movement, even over the wireless connection. The response time is indistinguishable from a wired connection. The mouse has three different connectivity methods, wired, Bluetooth and slipstream via the included dongle. The variety of connection methods is great for versatility and adaptability. The battery life is great, lasting over 250 hours using the slipstream dongle. It is rechargeable via USB-C at the front of the mouse and a cable is included in the box as well.Overall a great quality mouse, very happy
