Good concept lens, fun and decent images for everyday photography. However⦠I wanted to use it with a Fuji XE2 for a compact set up and itâs not a good match as it causes the camera to lock frequently which requires battery removal to clear. To be fair Viltrox do give a comparability warning for this camera. I returned mine but would buy again if the XE2 issue was resolved in a firmware update. If fully compatible with your camera (see Viltrox website) thoroughly recommended.

Quality of the Viltrox pancake lens
I bought this lens to have a much more compact and lighter lens than the 15-45mm zoom lens on my Fujifilm X-T100 camera. I have been very pleased with the results which are consistently sharp all over the frame – every bit as sharp as the zoom lens which came with the camera.

I bought this lens to try out the focal length paired with my X-T30 II. Build quality is fine for the price, mostly plastic but feels solid. It’s nice and light on my compact camera. Manual focus is smooth.Photos look great, sharp from wide open with pleasing colours and contrast. Autofocus seems fine for my uses however I don’t use this setup for video so I won’t comment in that regard.Overall I’m very happy with this lens and it represents great value for money. Good work Viltrox!

Disappointed-returned
Excited to receive this almost immediately after launch especially as a similar f6.5 pancake is so good. However, with my copy and it may only be with my copy, I encountered two problems that meant I had to return it as basically not useable. The first problem was with the autofocus. At fairly close range it was perfect. However, from across the street to anything longer even though the green square can up for focus achieved nearly every photo at that range was completely out of focus and that was testing on two separate Fuji cameras. The second problem was that every image had a haze so every image needed dehazing, obviously not satisfactory. I really hope that this was just my copy. Bear in mind no manual focus on this lens whereas my 6.5 pancake is manual focus only.

Amazing value for money
Another amazing lens from Viltrox. I own the Fuji 16-55mm F2.8 which is super sharp but I wanted something that would give me a bot more subject separation – this is it. A cracking lens and amazing value. This is as sharp as my Fuji but this lens gives me the flexibility to open up to F1.7. The lens is plastic but very well made. A welcome addition to any camera bag

55 ans d’expérience photos et ayant eu des objectifs d’exception, je puis pour assurer que ce Viltrox 56mm F1.7 est absolument incroyable de piqué et de contraste.Dès la pleine ouverture F1.7 sur l’intégralité du champ , du centre à l’extrême bord ….aucune différence.Les plus infimes détails sont restitués avec un piqué et un contraste si élevé qu’on se frotte les yeux pour le croire. Si en plus on ramène celà au prix sachant qu’il y a 20% de TVA , 10% de taxe de douane…imaginer le prix sortie d’usine…alors …c’est fabuleux.La fabrication extérieure n’est bien sûr pas au niveau d’un Viltrox 13mm F1.4 ou le 75mm F1.2 Pro tous deux magnifiquement construits , c’est tout de même bien fini sans fioriture.La monture est en métal bien entendu.C’est livré avec un petit pare soleil et une pochette en tissu très doux…attention typiquement Viltrox.Important , mes premiers tests ont été effectués avec le Fuji X-S10.J’ai vu un test très poussé de Mr Dustin Abbot avec le Fuji XH2 de 40 millions de pixel et ce Viltrox 56mm F1.7 ne fléchit absolument pas , piqué/ contraste au Top jusque dans les angles du champs et aberrations chromatiques imperceptibles alors qu’un tel capteur aussi superpixelisé ( 40 MPX en APSC ) exige les objectifs aux performances les plus stratosphériques et peu d’objectifs sont capables de tenir les 40 MPX en APSC !J’attendais qu’on puisse l’acheter en France.Aux USA c’était déjà possible et en plus pour eux il est encore moins cher !Top Top achat ! As most of you probably already know, this is a fun little lens. It’s barely larger than a body cap, has the slick integrated lens cover, and manages to squeeze autofocus into that tiny package. Sharpness is remarkably consistent from corner to corner in my chart tests – as sharp or sharper than any other pancake out there with the possible exception of the Fujifilm XF 27 or Voigtlander options. It doesn’t quite have the microcontrast and color quality as those competitors but it’s no slouch, and for the price I have zero complaints. I wasn’t expecting this level of clarity for under 100 bucks. The fixed f/4.5 aperture doesn’t bother me either. One of my other favorite street lenses is the AstrHori 14mm f/4.5. I think that aperture strikes a great balance between functionality in most light and good sharpness with just a little character across the DOF. It isn’t a low light monster or anything, so temper your expectations in low light and expect to crank your ISO.On the downside there is no manual focus option, so trying to milk what little bokeh/defocus you can out of the lens can be tricky, as you have to use single point AF and nail your spot. Also there are no filter threads so you can’t use any ND filters in bright light, or a CPL or anything, which is something that I find very useful on the AstrHori f/4.5 lens. Next, the AF isn’t the greatest. Even in good light and with static subjects the AF hunts a bit and may take a couple tries to lock, especially if there’s not good contrast in your focus area. Forget about any complex focus tracking, or even using basic AF-C in most cases. Again, not surprising given the price point. Just be realistic with your focusing expectations and you’ll be ok. Lastly, the MFD and close-up focusing aren’t great so don’t expect to get right up on your subject with this lens. It needs a little more room to breathe than you might expect.All in all it’s a great street lens, and it’s totally pocketable on smaller bodies like an X-A, X-E or X-Tx0 series. Definitely a screaming bargain, despite its flaws.

Ich nutze das Objektiv für Portraits von Menschen und meinem Hund. Die Verarbeitung und die Qualität der Fotos finde ich sehr gut.Das Objektiv wiegt an meiner Fujifilm XE-3 kaum etwas und ist auch nicht zu groÃ. Auch an meiner Fujifilm XT-5 sieht es sehr gut aus. Der Autofokus hat an beiden Kameras gut funktioniert.Für den Preis ist natürlich kein Staub und Spritzwasserschutz enthalten. Das finde ich aber nicht störend. Der einzige Abstrich aus meiner Sicht ist der fehlende BlendenRing. Zum Einstellen der Blende habe ich allerdings meine Knöpfe an den Kameras entsprechend eingestellt.
