Combining the Z 50 with the new Nikkor Z DX lenses, The new DX mirrorless system will deliver stunning images, from wide-angle to telephoto. This Z mount DX lens is optimised for the superb light-gathering capability of the wide Nikon Z mount. This zoom lens focuses quickly, quietly, and steadily, making them as great for video as they are for stills. The ultra-portable Nikkor Z DX 16-50mm f/3.5-6.3 VR is a ‘pancake’ Zoom that covers wide-angle to portrait views beautifully.
Ultra-portable wide-angle zoom: fast-focusing lens with wide-angle to normal 16–50mm focal length range (FX- format/35mm equivalent 24–75mm).
Minimum focus distance of just 0.2 m: lets users focus sharply on Close-Up details.
In-lens vibration reduction: shoot at shutter speeds up at 4.5 stops slower than otherwise possible. Capture clearer images in low light and record steady video footage even if filming while walking
Silent control ring: for Key functions including manual focus, aperture control, and exposure compensation.
Lens in your pocket: weighs just 135 grams and is flat as a Pancake when retracted.

A miraculous little lens
Tiny, cheap, slow, plastic kit lens. Plus a plastic mount. And collapsible. Sound like an optical disaster waiting to happen, doesn’t it? Surprisingly, this mini-wonder flies in the face of expectation, though. It might be all of the above, but it’s also surprisingly sharp, feels fine and is wonderfully compact and convenient, ideal for general walkaround use. Just goes to show how well Nikon has totally nailed its Z-mount lenses. I haven’t come across a duffer yet, and this is my 10th try. They range from very good to spectacular.

Lightweight with a heavyweight performance!
I added this to my Zfc and 16-50mm, and I now have the ideal travel kit. This lens is so lightweight. Yes, it has a plastic mount, but I’m not a professional user, so absolutely no issue here. Put simply, this lens boasts a performance that its price-point does not deserve. I am very happy with it. Given my other camera is a D850 with quality lenses, this travel set-up has not been a disappointment. Very highly recommended.

Okay for the price
The Nikon Z DX 50-250mm may feel small and plasticky, but it’s still very decent optically, at a reasonable price. It’s not brilliantly sharp, compared to other, more expensive lenses, especially at the edges, but it’s still quite decent, especially at the price charged.

Good lens
I use this lens all the time, more unusual results than a standard go-to lens, (50mm etc). It has good results landscaping or close up, (ie. Jewellery), quick shots, street photography, portrait. I leave it on my Z6 all the time. You don’t need the hood, (although I have one in case I may at anytime), it is good with any light.I use my Z6 creatively in all situations, & have had good results with this lens at night shots using every trick the camera can pull with strange exposure/shutter speeds, F-stops & ISO speeds etc. Good to go on manual setting, not bad on auto too in different situations. One thing I noticed when I first got the lens & attached it to my Z6 was it wouldn’t function correctly focusing, & recognising the camera. You have to update the firmware if this happens to you, it worked with me & I haven’t looked back since.I would recommend this tiny little lens as part of your camera bag, for what i’ve shot with it it really is well worth the money, & it isn’t that expensive.

Great value all rounder
This is a quality lens that’s lightweight but robust, smooth to operate and zoom, and good value for money at half the cost of equivalent non DX Nikon lenses. The quality of the photos is first rate and as good as more expensive lenses. It’s fine for landscape and wildlife photography, performing well in low light. It’s a great all rounder that doesn’t break the bank.

Nice lens but the rattling is a bit concerning
Bought this for my Nikon z camera. Seems to work well but is a bit plasticky and there is a slight rattling.I have kept it and will try to get some use if the sun ever comes out again.Thank you to all of the responders to my questions on Amazon that allayed my fears that I had a faulty lens.

This lens with its companion lens, the 24-50, is designed for the DX Nikon cameras. The lens is very compact and yet works very well and produces sharp images. It a good choice for those on a strict budget and those who want a small, easy to carry camera and lens.
