The best headphones I’ve owned.
I own quite a few Marshall speakers and I love the look and sound. The previous incarnation of these headphones, the III, had some build quality problems, so I avoided them. Cue me going through many different sets of Bluetooth and wired headphones, some cheap, some not so cheap. Never lasting and not one of them sounding as good as these. Beautiful, detailed sound. Comfortable and with a very solid feel. They’re nice and lightweight and have very good connectivity. I hope they last as well as my other Marshall equipment.

Can’t fault them
I have given it a couple of weeks before reviewing, there’s some belief that headphones need a ‘burn in’ period. So, to be fair, I have given them a little time to do that. To be fair, it does seem to work, so probably don’t judge headphones as soon as you get them out of the box.Indeed they have improved already. They were a little harsh at first, and seemed slight off balance between left and right ears. A couple of weeks later, and they sound superb, and perfectly balanced. There is some anecdotal evidence that suggests some of this could also be down to the individual and getting their brain to adjust to the sound of the new phones – perhaps, maybe a bit of both involved.I have an eclectic collection of headphones here – wired ones are Grado SR60, AKG K92, Koss PortaPro, and a Bluetooth Tribit XFree. They have different purposes, but I wanted some decent sounding cans with Bluetooth, so I don’t need to swap around, and fuss about trying to convert wireless to wired. The Marshalls ended up being my choice, as I prefer the comfort, and spatial sound of on-ear pads. I didn’t particularly need ANC or any weird fancy features, just reliable connection, and good sound. These are Bluetooth 5.0, and only come with a basic codec installed. However, I’ve connected them to my iPad Pro, iPhone 12, and Apple TV, and all work perfectly fine. Switching is a little fiddly, as I have to do it manually to disconnect one device, then connect another, but I don’t do it often, so that’s not a deal breaker. If you really want to, there’s a 3.5mm jack lead included, so you can (apparently) connect to another set of headphones to share the audio, or connect to a headphone amp for old fashioned wired connection. I connected it to my little valve amp (one of the readily available models out there), and it sounds fine, if a little under powered compared to the Bluetooth feed. They appear to be very well made, and they are comfortable. I did have to find the sweet spot around my glasses frames though. The pads are also easily removable, so I guess replaceable if they wear out, or for cleaning perhaps.Overall sound is excellent, now they’re reduced because of the version 5 coming out, they are a complete bargain. Whether you want to spend the extra there, that’s up to you (reviews I find indicate the benefits may be minimal). However, they compare well to the Grados, and way better than the AKG or Tribit. The Koss PoratPros are bit of a legendary thing, but not as ‘full’ a sound as the Marshall.Of course something like headphones are difficult to judge until you’ve tried them, and it’s not easy to do that before buying any. If you want sub£100 on-ear headphones, and don’t need noise cancelling and such like, then these are a decent choice.

Impressive!
First song listened to was âRestore my Soulâ by The Choir, an atmospheric spiritual with hard hitting drums, lingering electric guitar, reverb infused vocals. The track recorded with excellent separation between the instruments and vocals, very well produced. The Marshall Major 5 had no problems conveying this track as the artists may have expected let alone myself. The sound is clear using my iPhone 15 and very, very listenable. If this is the Marshall signature then I like Marshall, a lot. Very balanced and if you are coming from Beats headphones these will impress imo. The build quality is excellent with no immediate weakness evident. The Spotify button is off the charts for quick access, instant connection. This can reassigned to EQ and other functions if required via the EQ. The toggle for payback, track choice and call control is also excellent and nicely made. What can I say, just an excellent product for purpose, very happy with my pair and the price is more than fair for these. No regrets.

Awesome
Bought these Marshalls to replace my ageing cans. First impressions were good, they look the part with their retro Marshall styling which I think makes them stand out from the rest. I’m finding them super comfy with nice soft ear pads and can wear them for hours without discomfort although I sometimes have to move my glasses for maximum comfort. Being on ear instead of over ear, there is some sound leakage and they don’t have noise cancelling, although they block out a lot more background noise than my old phones. My only gripe was the top end sounded a bit raspy, which sounded strange as the bass was spot on and the mid range was loud and punchy. However, I downloaded the Marshall app and updated the firmware which not only fixed the top end but also made them even louder!TLDR UPDATE YOUR FIRMWARE!Awesome cans with quality sound and great volume, customisable equaliser and wireless charging, not to mention the incredible battery life. I love them!

At first I didnât want to buy them even though saw reviews about them but after I decided to get them and now I donât regret of buying them. Good sound, very comfy for on-ear headphones, nice design and battery is a top-notch.

Admit it, you want this because it’s marshall right?Looks amazing, quite premium. Sounds very good too but you’d get better sounding headphones for the price ngl (catch is, you wouldn’t even notice the difference unless you’re an audiophile)The battery back up is out of this world (gives 70+ hours in a 1 hour charge). Easy to use, premium parts, connects really well to multiple devices and is easy to cycle between connected devices too.Highly recommended for the looks, recommended for the audio quality (there is no ANC, but passive cancellation is very good). Feels good on the ear too, but hurts after an hour or so (which is basically any earphones)

Love the sound!Just a heads up – there is sound leakage when it’s super loud, if that’s something that you’re not a fan of.
