Perfect for Macbook Pro with M1
After plunging into the world of Macbook Pro, I was disappointed to find out they didn’t support multi displays. I shopped around looking at various USB-C Hubs and found that although lots had dual HDMI ports, they only worked on one display when linked to my Macbook Pro. I watched many reviews on YouTube and all pointed to USB-C Hubs that utilised the DisplayLink drivers as a solution. The Wavlink HUB was one of those which utlilised DisplayLink. While pricey, this hub was still cheaper than more recognised branded hubs such as Dell.I’m pleased to report that after much hesitation due to the price, the Wavlink works perfectly with independent dual monitor set up while also still providing the Mac display also. So I now have 3 displays, all working independently on my home office. So if you’ve got a Macbook Pro with M1 chip, all is not lost if you have more than 1 external monitor.

Overcome graphics limitations of MacBook Pro
Overcame my new MacBook Proâs inability to cast across 3 monitors. Works really well and has multiple ports to extend the connectivity of my computer.

Perfect for my set up in home office
As is the same for most people I’ve been asked to work from home during the covid pandemic, and even now that things are relaxing in terms of restrictions and being able to work from offices my employer is encouraging us to continue to work from home.My set up until I began to use this dock was to have the standard laptop charger plugged in and then to use a USB C hub to add an extra HDMI port, so my two monitors were plugged in (one direct to the laptop the other via the USB C hub) – so a lot of wires here and there and it didn’t look very neat. With this device now plugged in my desk looks a lot more professional and now that I’m not working from home just now and then that is really important to me, a cluttered workspace just seems to make me less productive somehow, some of you might be able to relate.Charging is now done via the hub, I can even charge my phone from the USB ports too, and both my screens are plugged into the hub, so only one cable going into my laptop which is very pleasing to the eye.The price of this piece of kit is £190, which seems a lot, but you get what you pay for and I’m experiencing a very good image on both screens, fast charging to my laptop and phone and no drops outs of image which I was getting from time to time using the cheaper USB C hub. This dock is a premium product, works seamlessly and looks very good on my desk5 stars *****

Overheats
Product overheats over prolonged periods of time then struggles to display a second screen. Green lines and flickering and switching on and off. Ok if you’re using for less than 4 hours a day. But given how expensive this is, wouldn’t recommend…

Performs well, declutters workspace and looks professional
This update on the WL-UG69PD1 looks sharper and shares most of the same features. Visually, it looks better standing vertically and takes up less space than its predecessor. Gone is the separate headset and mic connections, which are now integrated into one 4 pole headset/mic connection. I do use a standalone mic on occasions and it worked seamlessly. Other than that it is very similar. The dock uses the DL-6950 chipset, so do check compatibility with peripherals, as there are a very few known problems. I use it with an HP Spectre and a Dell XPS13 and it has not let me down on any task yet. Both of these laptops are able to utilise the PD charging facility, but there are known issues with some laptops, so check that you don’t need more powerful charging than 65 watts.Occasionally I use an external DVD drive or portable printer and these require standard USB ports not found on either the Spectre or the Dell XPS, having everything in one place saves having to carry additional adapters and looks more organised.Windows found the device instantly and downloaded the latest DisplayLink driver on each laptop, though in ‘Device Manager – Properties’ it is shown differently in each (Spectre 9.3.3324.0 Dell 10.1.2665.0).I haven’t used it on a MacBook yet, though on the laptops and clients monitors I have trialed it with to date I have had no issues. Conclusion: It has delivered all that I have asked from it, I cannot provide images of it being used in a client situation for GDPR reasons, but it has worked with a variety of different monitors. I have used a variety of other options in the field, but this is by far the most convenient and professional looking.

Great dock for all but the most powerful USB-C laptops
Solid, and well built with support for two 4K or one 5K display via either HDMI or DP connections. If your laptop requires 65W or less to charge via the PD/USB-C connector, then all you need here is a single USB-C connection from the dock to your laptop (ie no seperate power connection to the laptop required). This makes for a very simple and neat setup. That 65W should cover most laptops, though it is worth noting that docks that support up to 96W (often advertised as 100W) are available if you have a more powerful laptop that needs that much power. Also note that ‘mobile workstation’ laptops require yet more than 100W, so powering a laptop via this kind of dock is not possible for those machines. That said, this kind of dock will still work perfectly well for everything but the power on these higher power laptops. The collection of connectors is pretty typical for this kind of dock – a selection of USB connectors, audio connectors and the video connections. It is nice to see both HDMI and DP offered for each of the two outputs here, giving you flexibility that is missing on some similar products. All in all a very nice little dock that seems weel built and works exactly as described.A bit on teh pricy side, but if you want something reliable that will sit nicely on your desk and make for very simple connections then this shoudl be a contender – especially if the provided 65W or power is sufficient for your device.
