Used for Medical reasons – Great.
Using this as a panic button for my dad who’s healthy is wavering, he worries about remembering phone numbers when he’s having an emergency etc.So after having my own Ring alarm setup that I rage very highly overall, I decided to get him the same setup with some panic buttons.First, set up is quite easy (provided you have the Ring Alarm system). You pick from Panic, which as you’d expect sets off all of your sirens, App notifies of siren etc.Fire, also sets off all of the sirens but in a different sound as if to indicate fire, App reacts as it does with Panic. And Medical, which is the video I’ve included by default there are no sirens just the keypad saying “Medical Alert Active.” Then any people with Shared access get an alert pop up, I’ve also set my phone (Android) to make a rather uncomfortable siren sound and ensured do not disturb doesn’t disable it, I’m confident in a pinch I will be awaken/alerted and will be able to call my dad and check in, along with my sister. If you pay for Ring Protect Plus (£8/month, not bad if you have cameras etc too!) – you can also have 3 non-shared users contacted via phone, which in my testing, the calls come through within a couple of seconds of the app (and the alarm) triggering. The device itself is well built, button is protected by clear plastic cover, which needs to be lifted up to access the button, but it’s only held on by 2 tiny little plastic nubs and can easily be taken off if required ~ open half way/90degrees then push down, seems to come off easily enough & attaches the same way,Removing the cover doesn’t trip any “Tamper” alarm either.Anyway, you hold the button for 3 seconds (any mode) and it flashes green & ultimately red/green as the alarm triggers… From there it’s unstoppable via the button, and needs disarming via app or keypad etc.The 3 second delay might be an issue for some, but my dad understands it (at least while thinking straight) but I can’t find a way of reducing this delay, I understand this could lead to false presses etc but I think depending on someone’s circumstances the option should be there to adjust it accordingly.Anyway, the unit has typical Ring sticky pads on the back, along with a couple of screw holes so whatever you have in mind, in pocket, on table, anchored to a wall it’s all possible.I have tested it with a friend before installing it in my father’s home, and even in “Free” mode with no subscription provided the people you want notified are “Shared” users the app and ringtone can be perfectly fine, for those in more critical situations, then I suggest purchasing Ring Protect Plus, as you can have cameras, automated phone calls (without sharing app access) and cellular backup just incase the internet fail. All in all, money well spent!

Outstanding
This is a brilliant addition to the Ring alarm package. Very easy to set-up and set what you want it to trigger for, whether it be panic, medical etc. Ours is set-up for medical given we have someone in the house who is terminally ill. One push of this and (being subscribed to remote monitoring as well through Ring Protect Plus), it starts to work through your assigned contacts by calling them to let them know the button has been pushed. Notification on your phone and an email sent, too. You even get a reminder after a while to let you know it’s still in “alarm” mode if you forget to disable it. So my best tip if it’s triggered, just because you’ve acknowledged the automated phone call to say you’ve received the notification, don’t assume it’s disabled. Either completely disable it in the app (just check it’s not showing that anything is currently triggering), or just disable the whole alarm through the manual keypad or again, through the app. I know this might look a bit gimmicky at first but trust me, it pays for itself and the plastic lift cover is a nice addition to avoid accidental pushes from little fingers!

4 stars – an oversight
Easy to set up under your Ring suite of devices, though it took me longer as I had to do a factory reset after pulling the plastic battery tab out too early so watch out for that.Plastic cover is great so no accidental panics.I didnât see any stickers that other reviewers mentioned to indicate the buttonâs use – Panic, Fire or Medical (1 of 3 modes to be selected on App as the Medical behaves differently)For its simple purpose of alerting others to panic, it does the job but with a snag, hereâs why:1) Medical Mode – press and hold 3 seconds, it then contacted my first 3 assisted monitoring contacts with a call (myself being contact 1) and automated a spoken message with the alert at the âfirst line of the addressâ in question. Great stuff, exactly what I would expect.2) Panic & Fire Modes – no discernible difference in either of those modes that I could tell. Press and hold for 3 seconds. All of the above happened like it did for Medical mode. My internal Alarm Base Station sounded off my internal siren. Good, in my case I would expect to alert to a threat and let others know as well. The snafu: The siren sounding remains on your internal siren only on your Alarm Base Station. I also have a Ring Floodlight Camera at the back of my property. Now if my Ring Alarm system was disrupted by a threat while in Armed mode, all my sirens sound to alert, both internal and external. As much as no one wants to annoy their neighbours, signalling a threat is everyoneâs broader interests. Itâs a real pity the panic button in these Modes arenât able to do so.

Excellent piece of mind kit !
Following my surgery and now being permanently disabled, I have had a few falls when working from home alone, my misses has been beside herself with worry when sheâs outâ¦. Having this device gives her piece of mind and I know I can call for help !

Ring products always the best
So far so good. Itâs a shame the price is a little too high as I would definitely buy another panic button for the house. I have placed this one in the porch for easy use in case of an unwanted caller at the door. The panic button isnât too big and isnât too small. It comes with a protected plastic clear cover to prevent accidental activation, not sure how easy it would be to open the cover in an emergency or panic should a violent or unwanted caller is at the door and I want to press the panic button and the cover is over the button – hopefully I wonât need to find out. At the moment I keep the clear plastic cover in the open position and we havenât had any accidental activations. The build quality by Ring is excellent as always. If the price was lower I would probably buy a spare one for the house or purchase one for my son who has now bought a Ring alarm on my recommendation. I feel I can endorse the Ring Panic button at this time and will update should I have any issues or problems.
