Years back, I started putting in ethernet cables to parts of the house. Sometimes the reliability and speed of wire is important, especially in a neighborhood with lots of RF interference. I didn’t get very far because I was ending up with RJ-45 connectors dangling from the ceiling on their cables. I’ve long intended to do something about that, but I discarded all my 19″ rack equipment more than a decade ago.This is just the ticket: a 1U rack that swings open for easy access to the back. I mounted it with the supplied screws to the panel holding the FIOS box and telco-supplied router. I’ve only got a couple wires installed so far, but there will be more.

Well, it is foldable, but that is really just to transport it or store it away until you mount it. Once you mount it to the wall, it’s just like any other 1U mount. If it were to swing the other way so you can service a patch panel it would have been much more useful. But it does do it’s job once you have everything in place it is sturdy and will hold up a switch. Good for mounting under a desk or work bench for access to a switch instead of running cables. Would have been a 5 star is it could swing outward.

This is good for patch panels in cable closets. The henges are good for installation and will hold up long term. The included hardware and level make this a complete kit for easy installation. I plan on putting this in my shop with a 24-port patch panel.

The arms are very short, not much room for the cat5 wires.
