Early days but Simpled lock quality good, looks great, works well and easy to setup
We installed this lock a couple of days ago and first impressions are good – app was easy to setup, using fingerprints, fobs and devices all work as expected.I’d been looking for a smart lock for our night latch for a while and could only find the Yale Connected option – which didn’t have fingerprint detection, required extra drilling and looks quite chunky. I was looking for something modern, that could integrate with other smart home stuff and that would mean if we had to restore the old manual lock it was reversible. General internet reviews are pretty limited for this Simpled smart lock but I thought we’d try it.On receiving the Simpled lock when we took out our existing ERA Night Latch we discovered the original install was a bit of a bodge and the 32mm hole didn’t line up with the back latch so suit the Simpled. I don’t expect many installs will have this same issue. That required me to enlarge the hole a bit which wasn’t difficult.I also had to find a 70mm wide cover to hide the old top & bottom ERA lock screw holes and which had a 30mm hole suitable for the Simpled lock. Took me a while but I found https://lockwholesale.co.uk/product/rim-repair-escutcheon/ which was fine. Second issue was that the Simpled install assumes we reuse the 2 M5 machine screws that hold the old lock in place but for our install the Simpled lock needed shorter screws so I had the option of a) irreversible cutting down the old screws or b) getting extra screws. In the end I found new M5 machine screws but note the heads need to be small enough to allow the latch unit to fit back over the plate – we had to use counter sunk in the end although originals are pan head. I would like to find a way to hide the brass bit which is visible….given everything else is stainless steel.Once installed the TTLock app was easy to use – fobs, fingerprints and app access added including installing the app on our Apple watches. I still need to open the TTLock app on my Apple Watch so have yet to get it setup with Apple Wallet / NFC but that appears to need the gateway and other software. It’s so easy with the finger print I’m not actually sure the NFC + watch option is needed. So far so good and it will be interesting to see how the battery holds up with regular usage.

Cracking fingerprint lock
Ok – the instructions arenât super clear – I wish I had come back here to watch the video and read reviews before I attempted to fit this lock.Fitting it was no issues – simple switching the barrel. But there was nothing I could see on how to open to install the battery.Once I watched the video on the listing, it all became clear. Also, the QR codes in the instructions took me to âpage not availableâ when I was initially looking for some help. But – once I got over the minor issues, it works well.I did have to remove the surround on my Yale lock, as this one wouldnât turn with it still in place.Ignore the door – need a new one.The app was easy to install and find the lock. And fingerprints are easy to add. You can have them permanently allowed access, or say you have a dog walker or cleaner for example – you could just allow them access at allocated times. We have it on the front door, and itâs great not needing a key.It does come with 2 keycards which work to open the door, and 2 keys which override the lock. You can also open the lock using the app on your phone. It also keeps a log of all fingerprints used to enter the door. This would be great for elderly or disabled people – to allow family easy access, and keeps a log of who enters and when.Very impressed with this product, and the teen doesnât need to worry about losing a key when sheâs out.

It will erratically stop working unfortunately
I have a couple of Simpled smart locks and they look and feel great and work very well – with only minor issues in the rain. This is why I was surprised when the Night Latch Lock stopped working all of a sudden – it would properly recognise my fingerprint, send me a notification that the lock was engaged, but when turning the handle, nothing would open – the latch would not engage. This stayed the case for a while, then it started working again, but it returned the product as defective and got myself another one. All seemed well at first, then the same issue appeared again. The smart lock would still work and recognise my finger, but the mechanism would not engage and the door would not open. Then it would start working again, then stop again, etc. In the end, I have decided to always go out with the mechanical key to not risk being locked outside if there is no one else home, but that is against the whole point of a smart lock, and not the quality I have come to expect of Simpled. Two products with exactly the same issue cannot be a coincidence? Anyone else faced the same problem?

Great product let down but the extremely short range of the bridge
Great product let down but the extremely short range of the bridge, which makes it practically useless when you want to operate it remotely.

A bit too bulky and sticking out..
Although it is simple: simple installation, simple setup… it is not as… well it is good, as other Simpled products…. just the design…is missing something. Hard to say what. But it stays sticking out quite far from door, catching hell of attention. Surely not a safety product…but…as entry control… as entry control, and no worry entry item – definitely worth considering. Although in so close to the mortice lock price I would think twice to make this choice.Duracel battery drained after 25days of use⦠very bizarre. Iâll give it another try
