Excellent value, lightweight, com0pact and simple to use. What more can you ask?
The first thing I was startled by on opening my new hard drive was the weight. Or rather, lack of. It’s like a feather. This is doubly pleasant when you understand that this is, or at least seems to be, a ‘spinner’/’platter’ drive, to judge by the angelic hum it makes when writing data (the sound is there if you listen closely, but is in no way intrusive). Is that a bad thing? No! Spinner/platter drives are better than EMMC, for my purposes anyway, because they’re a lot better at handling repeated writes than an EMMC drive. To qualify that, I purchased this item to store my expanding digital music collection, so I needed something both stable, and tolerant to lots of data writing; an EMMC drive is the former, but not the latter, though the quality does have a bearing. To really ice the cake, at least when I purchased, the drive came with two years’ data recovery for free. There are some pieces in my collection which I won’t be able to get back if the drive should fail; should that happen – which I hope it doesn’t – then the manufacturers will sort it all out without asking me for a penny. The second thing that startled me was the size. For someone with small hands and Arthritis, it’s perfect. I haven’t taken a ruler to it, but it has about the same footprint as a tobacco tin. Gotta love miniaturisation! What’s in the box?1 x USB external hard disk (size dependent on purchase); it’s USB 3 compatible, as indicated by the blue bit in the connector, but it’s also backward compatible with USB 21 x USB to custom USB connector cable1 x small amount of guide paperworkNo installer needed, no complicated instructions. The drive comes formatted as ExFAT, meaning it will work with nearly any computer (there is an exception where it will need re-formatting, but to be honest I’ve never heard of the system in question and anyway, it tells you as much in the guide paperwork). I just plugged it in, let the computer register it, and away I went. Considering my collection amounted to 122GB (and has grown since), and it barely made a dent, I’m happy that my music is secure and future-proof. As far as stability goes, only time will tell, but I’ve used this brand for micro SD cards in the past and never had trouble with them, so I’m confident. All in all, I can only call it a great package for a bargain price.

Great device
Arrived quickly and in great condition. This product is so easy to use and is brilliant for storing all my large Photoshop files. I drag and drop my files in, but it can also be used with Time Machine which is great. As a Mac user, I would definitely recommend it.

Working Perfectly
I recently purchased the Seagate External Hard Drive, and it has exceeded all my expectations. From the moment I plugged it in, it worked flawlessly. The setup was incredibly easyâjust plug and play. The transfer speeds are impressive, allowing me to move large files quickly without any hiccups. The build quality is solid, and it feels durable enough to withstand everyday use. With ample storage space, it has become an essential part of my backup routine. Whether I’m storing documents, photos, or videos, the performance is consistently reliable.Overall, I highly recommend the Seagate External Hard Drive to anyone in need of extra storage that performs perfectly from day one. It’s a dependable and efficient solution for all your data storage needs.

great external hard drive – but better buy direct and not through a 3rd party seller
product works fine – obtaining it through a 3rd party seller was problematic!

Good Budget Hardrive
Great storage. Bought this as I needed a hard drive to store more of my client work, and for the cost of it, you cannot beat it.

Perfect
Got this for my university work, performance is great, easy to connect, great storage space and great durability. Very light and easy to use, comes with a USB so you might have to use an adaptor on some mac PC’s.

An excellent replacement…
This is a wonderful little USB-powered hard drive, massive in capacity, that I purchased to replace an earlier Seagate model of the same capacity (4Gb) that was misbehaving incurably, kept spontaneously disconnecting and re-connecting. Just one of those things that happens. It was several years old, and I had it backed up on an identical drive of the same age which is still functioning OK, touchwood. To all reading this, I emphasise that you cannot have too many backups, so be prepared! The new drive is superb, and has the pleasing and helpful addition now of a “busy light”, so that you can be confident something is actually happening when a computer command is sent to the gadget. These are excellent drives, and every computerised home should have at least one. I am absolutely confident with the Seagate brand, so thanks to all of their staff for great products!

Performs as expected form a hard disk,[Test Results and hardkdisk photos in Images]Physical: It’s light weight and small size (smaller than palm)The case is of okayish quality, if you press on it, it gets flexed maybe they should have made it a bit strongerthe cable quality is goodIt comes in a single box with HDD and cable no additional case/cover includedStorage Capacity: 931GB (10,00,17,05,86,112 bytes as reported by File Explorer Windows) which is exptected from a 1TB driveSince many people were complaining its not 1000 GB or 1024GB, windows will show different capacity then what a manufacturer advertise, you can look up on google on how that worksIn short the 931GB is what you’ll get from a 1TB drive(any drive not just this one)Performance: As expected in a HDDSpeed is as expected for a HDDCrystal Disk Mark testThe first speed test i ran the write speed was slow but reconnecting it again it was goodSpeed tests are in images, for comparision i included benchmark of my internal drive as well{E drive: Seagate , D drive : My internal drive} both of 1TBWhen the drive is busy writing reponse time jumps upto 15 secondsThey are both similar in terms of speed so no complaints thereTest 1copying ~3.5gb files of different sizes from 100KB to 200MBTook around 2 minute, avg speed of 25MB/s (write), there was some fluctuations when transfering smaller filesTest 2copying ~200GB folder with .mp4 files (all files over 500MB)Avg speed 100MB/s (write), the speed stayed pretty much the sameNote: Sometimes it gives only 26MB/s write speed and other times over 100MB/s write speeds and i cant figure out why it does that, all my ports in the laptop are USB 3.1 gen1 so idk why the speed difference is there maybe some connection issueConnector : Its a USB A to USB micro B superspeed connector, the cable length is ~40cm which is okay and cable and pin quality is goodTemperature : after a few tests the case became warm to touch or 45C as reported by softwareIts idle temperature is around 38C~39C at room temperatureWhen plugged in computer there is a slight vibration if you hold it(which is fine), but no significant noise when reading or writingThis is a short term test, i will update the review if anything happends regarding the driveAs of now the the purchse for me was worth it, i bought it for INR 4899 during great indian festival sale
