Customers say
Customers praise these headphones for their fantastic sound quality with good noise cancellation and accurate music reproduction, while also appreciating their build quality, comfort for extended listening, and value for money. They receive positive feedback for their clarity, with one customer noting their impressive level of detail, and their lightweight design. The fit and cable length receive mixed reviews – while some find them comfortable over the ears, others say they’re a bit tight, and while the 3-meter cable is handy, many find the standard cable too short.

Excellent sound quality, comfortable
£70 and very good. I can only compare with my Momentum 4s which were over triple the price. Sounds quality is on a par with the M4s wired up. Vs the M4s in bluetooth mode the 599s win.The 599s are very comfortable though, my ears don’t get clammy thanks to the open back design. There is of course sound leakage but its fine for my purposes. Do consider this if you want to listen without others hearing the residual sound too.Good quality item. Didn’t come with a case or bag, though. The sound gets better and better in the first couple of weeks. Pair this with a high-res sound source like Tidal and you’re winning.I listen to metal and like driving percussive tracks and the 599s have enough bass for my liking. I did need to increase the bass on my EQ though, out of the box they were a tad flat.

Sennheiser HD 599SC
I brought these headphones about a month ago and decided not to review them until I’d spent at least 10 or so hrs using them, listening to a range of music ,rock, pop, jazz but mainly classical. So far I’ve found them very comfortable even when I’ve used them for listening sessions over 3 hrs or so. The sound is nicely balanced thru the frequencies and the sound is spread over the wide ‘sound field’.They are a bit big and bulky (but light in weight), Also they don’t fold and allow a lot of sound escape. So they’re the not ideal for travelling but better suited for home use. The construction of the phones are mostly plastic but they well built and robust. These headphones are the best phones I’ve ever owned (so far) and considering what I paid for them (about £70). THEY ARE A STEAL.Foot note.Allow a few hrs of listening through these head phones to allow your hearing and brain to get used to the sound they make and also for the transducers to ‘bed in’ and loosen up a bit. The sound really do’s seem to improve and get smoother as you them. To my ears anyway.-

A Sound Investment
The Sennheiser HD 599 Special Edition, which you can only find on Amazon (New anyway, other marketplaces have used versions but you can never be sure of the condition they’ll arrive in), has an open-back design that’s super comfy and fits over your ears really well. These headphones are all about delivering great sound, and youâre going to notice the detail in every tune you play. With a wide frequency range, from a low 12 Hz all the way up to 38,500 Hz, these headphones do a fantastic job of capturing everything from the rumble of bass to the clarity of treble, making them a good choice whether you’re into classical, jazz, or acoustic music. When it comes to sound quality, they really shine. It provides a natural and balanced sound that makes you feel like youâre right there in the studio or concert hall. The open-back design means you get a really open and wide soundstage, which makes listening feel more immersive. Youâll hear the bass, but itâs not going to knock you over, which suits genres like classical music and jazz quite well. But if youâre someone who loves deep, booming bass, you might find these headphones a bit lacking in that area. Now, letâs talk comfort and how these headphones are built. Weighing just 250 grams, theyâre nice and light, perfect for those longer listening sessions when you just want to enjoy your music without any discomfort. The velvety ear pads and well-padded headband really do make a difference in how they feel when you wear them. They feel solid overall, though theyâre made from plastic, which keeps them light but still durable enough for everyday use. You also get two detachable cables with these headphones: a longer 3-meter cable with a 6.3mm jack and a shorter 1.2-meter cable with a 3.5mm jack. This means you can easily hook them up to different devices. The design itself has a sleek black finish that really stands out, especially as a unique spin on the original models, which had a more classic ivory and brown look. While the open-back design does a great job of making the sound feel vast and engaging, just keep in mind that it does allow sound to leak out, so if youâre in a noisy spot, you might not get the full experience. Plus, without any folding hinges or a carrying case, you might find these less convenient to take with you on the go.Here are some quick pros and cons for easy consideration:**Pros:**- The sound is natural and balanced, making it enjoyable for a range of music.- The open-back design creates that spacious soundstage.- Theyâre lightweight and comfortable, perfect for those extended sessions.- You have detachable cables to match your device needs.- The black finish gives a nice modern look that you wonât find everywhere.**Cons:**- If you’re into really heavy bass, you might find these a bit underwhelming.- With the open-back design, you will experience some sound leakage and wonât get much noise isolation.- They donât have features that make them easy to carry around, like folding hinges or a case.To wrap it up, they are a solid pick if you value a balanced sound and enjoy that spacious listening vibe. Theyâre very comfy for long listening sessions and look sharp, too. But keep in mind that they might not be the best choice if youâre in a noisy place or really craving those thumping bass lines.

I used them to mix as a dj excellent overall
These are excellent overall, they have a very long interchangeable cable that is ideal for djing with. The sound is wide, clear and not too bass heavy, I have found it is possible to over power the drivers if pushed too hard but I don’t think this is a failing of the headphones but the ability of my gear to put out high levels. Overall a great set of headphones that fit people with larger heads and can be used for reference and studio work.UpdateJAN 2023These are still going strong and have become my go to headphones, as someone that uses headphones for extended periods be it for mixing or mastering I have totally fallen in love with these. I’ve had HD 25 pros and most of the other DJ headphones on the market but none do the job as well as these can do both mastering and DJing. The interchangeable cables are handy as the long version is the 6.8mm and the short is 3.5 mm ( I have since bought a curly 6.8mm for DJing so I do tread on the longer wire ) the ear cups do offer very good isolation and this is what pushes them above the HD25’s aswell as the larger size. Overall after nearly a years use they are as responsive, clear and comfortable as the day I received them. Definitely my favourite cansMay 2025Still the Same Cans still well worth the money……After 3 Years and thousands of hours use they are still going strong !!!! My only complaint is that they don’t flex as much as I would like but they do keep their shape exceptionally well !If you really want to spend loads on headphones then you can but these are without a doubt my work horse cans. I’ve bought them a carry case and a 2nd curly lead.No doubt the best bang for buck cans I’ve bought in the last 10 years

Well after falling in all the hype about combining a capable enough dsp dac amp with an open back headphone a person is propelled into a world of blissful surround sounds i decided to try this hands down once and for all. After about half an hour of burning the headphones in with some 24bit Flac songs i went ahead to test it.Played multiple songs and movies via the Walkman , X3 amp , Note 9 phone.First impressions:Build : The build quality is excellent, it’s all plastic that seems like it is made to last and keep it light for comfort. The mechanism also feels reliable. So 5/5Comfort:Very good , not fatigued after 1 hour , No unwarranted peaks in any frequencies. Its winters here in the north so it also doubled up as a scarf insulating my ears from the peircing cold.Sound isolation:Well what would one expect from an open back , it’s terrible. But it is what it is.You have to be alone and in a quite environment to listen to these.Sound will leak both ways.Package contents:Well the box that comes with it is unimpressive, it is a waste like soft cardboard box which is labeled as “frustration free” packaging, it’s all nonsense. If it was a good quality box one would use it to keep the headphones after use safely, and won’t throw it away.No i will have to purchase a headphone case adding more to the environmental damage. You get two cables one being a 6mm and one 3.5mm with a 6mm to3.5mm converter plug.Sennheiser took good care in that area.Sound :Well i come from using the following in order of magnitudeMost vintage models of Sony tape walkman headphones and earphonesMdr xb 60exMdr xb500Mdr xb 90exMdr xb 75ap ( Skull rattler )Mdr ex220Asus rog headsetXba H3 ( My personal favorite in all areas )Shure se 846 ( Skull breaker , My almost perfect set but gets beaten in High frequency department)As you can see there is only two over the ear headphones. Now i have always been disappointed by the music of over the head headphones due to lack of proper Isolation and driver limitations.Being my first open back This HD559 is no different to closed back in music department.Music coming out of it is unimpressive , you get almost no proper bass rumbles in the tracks that have them but maybe it’s my fault.(more on that later). The soundstage although quite good does not impress you enough to warrant the sacrifice in sound isolation and lower frequencies.Sometimes some songs get tinny and empty, sometimes they come out good but never great.Apart from that i maybe wrong with my eqs and settings i will update after a week of listening.Movies : WTFThis has blown all my in ear headphones far away , nothing comes close to the immersive theater like experience while pairing it with the X3 amp and switching on the xfi.You are instantly placed in a premium position of a proper dts tuned theater seat. All the action is all around you and dialog of the actors are clear and crisp even during intense explosions and gunfire.Things are properly imaged bodies dropping to the ground , bullets whirring past you thunders in the sky everything is represented perfectly.Imaging is more vertical than horizontal. Now the bass : While the music had no bass on it , on movies while on xfi turned on the bass reaches skull rattling levels without getting distorted or overlapping any other frequencies. It is unreal and brings a huge smile on your face and the only reason i did not return these back. The explosions shake you bullets fired seem real , thunders are near to being real. For movies this is the ultimate solution for me the END GAME so to say.Haven’t tested it yet on games but have heard quite a praise for them in that regard. Conclusion:These mysterious headphones struggle to pump up the proper bass notes on music but will pummel your head in movies.Maybe i am doing something wrong on my amp but i have tried to bring it on the music by various ways. The world shattering bass is there waiting to be unleashed but with mysterious ways. The mids are perfect for both Male and females all the frequencies are present and quite powerful. The highs are a bit laid back and roll off at the highest levels quite quickly , whenever you will need them desperately they will bail out on you.But overall they are fine.Is it worth the money ?.For movies absolutely. 100%For music MaybeFor games , haven’t tested yet but i am confident they will excel in that department.Very good product.Highly satisfied.
