Fantastic!
this is fantastic! use it with my iPhone and it plugs straight into the Lightning portâno fuss, no app needed, it just works. That alone makes life easier when you’re juggling a million things (and still trying to capture decent sound quality!).The sound is surprisingly crispâ48KHz/16Bit, which Iâll admit doesnât mean much to me on paper, but you can hear the difference. Whether Iâm filming team intros, customer chats, or talking to camera for social, the audio is clear and picks up my voice really naturally without all the background café clatter.Itâs properly compact tooâjust clips onto your shirt and off you go. No wires, no tangles. The 360° clip is sturdy, and the mic stays put, even if youâre moving around. Iâve used it for a few longer bits (somehow ended up filming a full 45-minute training demo the other day), and the battery held up fineâsays 9 hours, and so far Iâve had no reason to doubt that. Also love the mute modeâsuch a small feature but makes a big difference when you’re filming in chunks or need to stop for a sec without fiddling with the phone. If I had to nit-pick, it would be fab if it came with a little carry case, but thatâs hardly a dealbreaker. All in all, if you’re filming on iPhone and want a clean, easy audio solution that doesnât feel like overkill, this mic is fab. Especially handy if, like me, youâre often filming in busy, noisy environments but still want to sound polished.

Brilliant
Getting one of these things is almost like turning your smartphone into a proper recording studio. With cameras getting better and better on phones, it makes sense to use one if you want to make vlogs or whatever, but the microphones have not advanced as much as the cameras. This little addition changes that. It boosts up the ability of your phone to record sound more clearly and at greater distances. It also makes the sounds more rich and filters out a lot of that tinny sounding echo you get on a lot of low quality videos. If you’re into travel vlogging too then you will especially benefit from this as it is very compact and portable and filters out a lot of the irritating noise that wind blowing on a microphone creates. The only thing I wish was improved about these is that I would like them to be a bit more sturdy. I get that delicate recording equipement has to make sacrifices to be small and protable, but these do feel a little too delicate perhaps. I would still highly recommend them though.

A bit expensive, but it at least has some legit perks to it.
So hereâs the thing…there are tons of wireless mics out there now and we all go for decent quality whilst definitely looking for a cheaper option. Scroll through any site and you’ll see a wall of them, all claiming to be “pro-level” or whatever. This one from Boya? Yeah, it’s on the pricier end, especially when most others look the same at first glance. But after checking out the specs and seeing what it’s packing, it does make more sense. That said, I stand by it being overpriced.First off, the size is super compact, barely 10 grams. You clip it on, and itâs not dragging your shirt down or making you feel like youâre wearing gear. Itâs also dead simple to use. Just plug the lightning receiver into an iPhone (or USB-C version for Android/laptops), clip on the mic, and itâs ready to go. No pairing. No app. No fiddling with settings. That alone makes it solid for people who just want to hit record and not mess around. The sound qualityâs clean, especially for something this tiny. Youâre getting 48kHz audio, with solid noise reduction built in, which is handy if you’re filming outdoors or around people. Thereâs even a little NR button to kick in more aggressive noise canceling if you’re in a noisy spot. And for what it’s worth, it doesnât crush your voice quality like some of the cheaper mics tend to do when trying to âfixâ background noise.Battery wise, the transmitter runs about 9 hours (as claimed, not tested), and if so, it’s more than enough for most recording sessions. And the fact that the receiver lets you charge your phone while itâs plugged in? That’s for sure on the plus side. Thatâs something a lot of budget mics skip, and it gets annoying real quick when your phone’s dying midway recording.Clean audio, easy setup, portable, and doesnât kill your phone battery. If youâre doing content regularly like YouTube, TikToks, interviews, whatever, it saves you time and frustration, and thatâs kind of what youâre paying for here.If youâre only recording once in a while, there are cheaper options thatâll get you by.

Not for iPhones below iPhone 13
I have not personally used this as it will not work with my iphone ( will be updating it later this year as mine is old iPhone12) so asked a friend who has an iPhone 16 to try it and they found it worked brilliantly – said sound quality on their videos and voice overs was very clear with no real background noise coming through. Someone else with an iPhone 13 found it worked with theirs as well. I tried the mic out clipped onto me, and found it non-intrusive, easy to place, and it stayed in place no matter how I moved around. So when I do get my new iPhone, I buy the latest every 5- 6 years I will be looking forward to using it.

I’m super impressed with how easy this mic is to useâyou literally just need to plug it into your phone and you’re good to go! The quality of the sound is solid and after testing it out, it definitely works from a long distance!! I also appreciate how small and low-profile it is regarding how it looks. It’s easily blendable with whatever you wear and doesn’t stand out as much as other ones can!

Ok so originally I got a BY-V10 for my wife and it turns out she wanted something else so I inherited that one, but it doesn’t work with my iPhone 14. So I got the BY-V1 which has a lightning plug receiver. Bonus! Since the BY-V1 and -V10 have the same receivers just lighting vs usb-c, the mic’s work with both receivers! So it doesn’t matter whose phone is handy, and I have 2 mics so there is almost no chance of my mics dying before I’m done recording stuff. The wireless connectivity is perfect and doesn’t seem to affect the audio quality at all. I noticed a huge decrease in the amount of background noise vs when I record straight from my phone so winning! Battery life is excellent, I have yet to run one dead, I tend to use them and charge them. I have run them for what felt like a couple hours but still no problems. The price point makes this an exceptional value especially since the mics are the same between the models so I can use both of them, I won’t have to replace them should I eventually upgrade. I can just swap from the lightning receiver to the usbc one and continue using the mics that I have. They are a snap to setup, just plug the receiver into the phone, wait for the blue light, then switch on the mic, wait for the lights to sync and blam, ready to go.
