Perfect travel lens – Definitely worth it
I bought this to take on holiday with my Sony A7IV instead of lugging around my bulky Sigma 24-70 and I was not disappointed! This lens may be small and cheap (in lens terms) but itâs fantastic to take on city breaks, the autofocus isnât the fastest but it works well and the lens produces sharp enough images for social media and photo prints. The ultra compact size of the lens makes it super discrete and adds no bulk to the body of the camera, the built in lens cover is a great feature that makes it super easy to use.My only caveat for this lens is that when shooting in super bright conditions with very very high shutter speeds the lens seems to produce images with black sections over the image as if itâs not fate enough for the shutter speed of the camera. This only happened a couple of times though and it worked perfectly the rest of the time.

For £90 new I don’t know how you can’t give this lens 5 stars. It’s tiny, the image is by no means ‘perfect’ but it’s so fun to shoot with. The fixed 4.5 f -top and 28mm focal length force you to be creative. There are lovely little pops of lens flare sometimes, the softness gives it an old film style look, the built in lens cover is a great design, there’s so much to praise this little lens for. Well done Viltrox for pushing the tech to it’s limits and offering it for a ridiculous price. I’ve got this on my A7CII with a customised B&W creative look and it’s stunning, so light weight. I just keep it on my camera instead of a body cap now. Get it. I got a used, like new, one for 70 quid.

Great value for money
It takes nice sharp photos and feels like a quality product. I did a quick astrophotography shot and it was a big improvement on my old zoom lens. It’s very basic, with no additional controls.

I want to love it but canât ð«£
I want to like this lens. A slime pancake lens for Sony Alpha cameras. The slim profile is great when you wanna travel light and keep a low profile when doing street photography.The fixed aperture is neat but only in certain light conditions. There are variable ND filters out can get out there that attach to a 3D printed mount but a bit of hassle.The sharpness of the lens was also disappointing. Which for the price and the size you know youâre trading something off.It is a fun lens but having Sony G Master lenses, I couldnât forgive the softness of the lens. Itâs a shame because it was fun to have this on my Sony a1 to use as a quick point and shoot.I wouldnât say recommend this lens for a beginner but pros will struggle with the limitations.

Cheap but a champ!
I use the Viltrox 28mm f/4.5 pancake lens as a body cap for my Sony A7CR… But it’s also one my most favourite lenses to use. Don’t let the price fool you into thinking this is a basic lens, because it produces some seriously good quality images. IMHO, the quality is better than some of the £400+ lenses I have in my kit.Granted it’s not great for low light photography, but for daytime photography it is incredibly good, and the colours and contrast are impressive.Don’t pass by this 28mm pancake… It’s a sweet bit of kit for ninety quid!

The lens isnât compatible with older Sony cameras (specifically my Sony NEX-5N), it completely powers off the camera. Reading a few forums it doesnât work with other NEX cameras either. Would be helpful to know before i ordered.

Perfect lens for video shooters and photographers.Have been a experienced cinematographer and highly appreciate the quality of the lens. Af is really quick but there is little bit of focus motor noise but not a deal breaker. Value for money. Suits on my sony zv e10
