A tidy little network switch
This is a decent small switch for those that want to hook up some cameras or create a small home network, which is my usage for now. It felt relatively easy to set up and all works as expected. The unit itself feels very well made and you can control it by a phone app which is pretty handy. I’m pretty new to all this kind of stuff so once I have played with it a bit more I’ll update this review with further opinions but for now I’m quite impressed and think that for. the price it is great value.

Does not work OOTB and requires pinhole to access
Does not work. Tells you to download an app called SCCPOE that’s not an app its a protocol. App is called Amitres. App will not install on Harmony OS. Got it added to spare phone (Android 13) and could not get the switch registered. Its powered and has internet/intranet access but the app says no device is found. Tried manually entering the serial number and also tried scanning the serial number. Both failed. I am employed in IT so I am pretty savvy when it comes to these things. Looking at the router the firewall is blocking external access which is why its failing to register. I had though it was using its own DDNS in order to resolve the switch but it requires a pinhole / port forward which I am not prepared to do. Sent back for a refund.

Excellent low cost managed switch
This is a surprisingly good low cost managed switch. You can configure it through a slightly dodgy-looking Chinese app on a smartphone or Windows device (check the goalake site for the Windows app), or you can manage all its functions through its web interface. Default password for that is 123456 in case you have trouble finding the manual on Goalake’s website. And of course the ability to power the switch by POE makes it even more valuable.Yes it’s Chinese, yes it’s cheap, so yes its security is questionable, but you get what you pay for!
Works but where’s the reset switch? –
No way to reset it if things go wrong
Cloud interface isn’t the slickest thing in the world. Local interface also looks dated. However, it does work and coped with my VLANs just fine. However, I lost access to the switch when setting a static IP and there is no way to reset it. Thankfully it’s cheap, but lack of a reset switch is a big oversight
