A very expensive desk ornament that beeps at you but not so great for the bike
It’s a lovely lock, I’ve used it twice. Then I didn’t ride my bike for quite some time and I’ve spent ages now googling how to unlock the thing and it’s not having it. It charged, but won’t connect to any phone. I’ve googled for support articles, there are none. I tried the app on an Android and an iPhone, no connection. I clicked on FAQ/Support in the app. The Android one converted it to English but didn’t allow me to send a message to Abus. The iPhone one kept it in German which was no help at all as I’m not overly fluent in anything other than English. So now I have a desk ornament that beeps at me complaining that I’m trying to steal it – I’m not, I promise that I bought it…..but the computer knows best and thankfully I had the foresight to buy a traditional lock and that still works 🙂

Great idea, but too temperamental to be reliable
I have mixed feelings about this lock – on one hand, it has all the features I want in a lock (Gold rated, sturdy, has an alarm that’s loud enough to draw attention and not too sensitive that it’s triggered accidentally – a firm knock to the chain is required to set it off). The app has a map that (if 5 ft away) can tell you the status of the lock, and records the last known location (but is only live if you’re within 5 ft of the lock, so not useful if you’re further away and wanting to make sure the bike is still there). The lock is pretty heavy – heavier than my diamond D lock – but the attachment to mount it on the bike is sturdy. The battery lasts a while – I use it 1-2 times a week and haven’t needed to charge since I purchased it last October.The main issue as could be predicted is with the Bluetooth / app – the bluetooth is temperamental at best. I’ve often had to restart the app several times to connect to the lock when standing next to it, and frequently the bluetooth has disconnected before the lock has unlocked and ultimately taken several restarts 10+ minutes and a lot of panic to unlock (not sure what I’d be able to do if I was unable to unlock). A couple of times I’d set out not knowing that the app had updated, and then been unable to use the lock without the activation card. About 50% of the times I lock it (and the app confirms it’s locked), the lock hasn’t engaged. The alarm does set in these instances. I will say that it has been a bit more reliable since the main app closed and was consolidated, if it’s now very slow to connect.Ultimately, when it works it provides a great peace of mind, but there is so much uncertainty around locking/unlocking it that I keep forgetting to take it off the bike and use it only to avoid carrying it around with me. I consider it more of a deterrent than a security measure

I have had this lock for a while I like it it works well security enough you can carry it on your bike the only thing is that there’s no other thing to unlock it without a phone me personally I would have put a fingerprint recognition or a special key but overall a heavy duty Glock do not recommend for a bigger wider bike though or fat bike overall very good and highly recommend not for the price though I recommend getting it on sale

Gran candado con buena robustez 15 de 15 en seguridad Abus. Fácil configuración de la app para la apertura del candado. Rápida y cómoda.Lo malo es su peso…. 2.300 para ir en bicicleta se nota pero bueno, al menos puedes dejar la bici tranquilamente un rato en el dÃa. De noche , no dejarÃa una buena bici en la calle ni 10 minutos pues con una radial sigue siendo cortada en minutos. Aunque la alarma es un extra para ahuyentar los ladrones , no serÃa suficiente si realmente se le quieren llevar y la bici es buena .
