Peanut –
Works pretty well, gets warm though
I picked this up for an unusual use – to connect a smartphone to effects units. I can set something playing on a software synthesiser, or streaming, and pass it through an effects chain. It’s brilliant at that. The sound quality coming out is perfectly good to my old ears and it gives us something extra weird to be doing when my ‘band’ jam. (There’s two of us, we’re in our 50s and we’re delightfully hopeless electronic musicians.) Having the USB A plug means we’re not going to be flattening our phone batteries while sending audio through mad amounts of delay and reverb!Plugging into my Windows machine, I can see it’s using the AB13X chipset which is used a lot for phone headsets and the likes. One issue with this is that it tells Windows that there’s a microphone built into it that there definitely isn’t, but as long as you’re not trying to use it that isn’t an issue.The cable itself is braided nicely with decent plugs in metal cases. This is a handy thing in itself because the USB C plug is where the active circuitry is, and it gets quite warm in use. The metal helps disperse that.£10 at the moment – pretty good value, just a shame about the heat and microphone snafu.

A solution for non bluetooth cars
The product came in minimal but good packaging which was mostly recyclable and is nice quality. The plugs are metal and feel sturdy and the cable has a braided sheath which feels robust, it seems like it will give a good few years service. The cable is long enough to reach the necessary sockets in the car without being so long it gets in the way. I have no idea why phone manufacturers stopped installing headphone jack sockets, seems daft to me, but it created a market for cable like this I suppose. Allows those of us with older cars that do not have Bluetooth to continue using our phones as media centres, works well and looks good.

Smart blue charger USB C charger, useful for car
I’ve been using this to charge my ‘phone, which it does although not at lightening speed. It’s very smart with a neatly woven blue nylon protection, and also brushed metal ends. It could be connected to speakers separately but would be very difficult to do both at the same time as the USB A plug in and headphone jack are very close to each other, only about a maximum of 30cm apart, whereas the connection to the USB C end is much more practically distanced away. However as a charger, it works plenty well enough for my needs, charging my ‘phone well.

Good value cable
This is an odd combination of plugs but perfect for my older car allowing for audio to play through the carâs speakers and charging my phone to play at the same time. This is an issue with cars c. 10 years old which do not have Bluetooth. Good audio, charging is good too!
