See the difference
Six dye-based inks offer enhanced photo print quality, and the addition of red and grey inks increases colour vibrancy and contrast, and ensures no colour shift regardless of what photo media you’re using.

Pump up the volume
High-volume ink tanks enable incredibly high page yields* – one set of bottles can print around 3,800 4×6 photo prints, meaning fewer bottle refills.

Designed for simplicity
Front-facing ink tanks make it easy to monitor ink levels, non-squeeze ink bottles and key-type nozzles make refills hassle-free, and the 2 Line LCD is easy to navigate.

Do-it-yourself maintenance
With a user-replaceable print head and maintenance tank you’ll experience minimal downtime, and the Auto Power On/Off function will contribute to energy saving.

WiFi connectivity
Print from your phone or tablet using the Canon PRINT App, Mopria or AirPrint, or use WiFi to connect to your PC, laptop or Canon WiFi-enabled camera.

FOOTNOTE
*Page yield is the estimated value based on Canon individual test method using the ISO/IEC 29103 chart and continuous printing simulation with the replacement after initial setup.

Would definitely buy again
Excellent printer! Was choosing between this and an Epson EcoTank. Am very glad I went with the Canon. The quality and colour is good. It prints on 260 gsm photopaper easily. The tanks dropped a little when first filling the heads, but since the first print I’ve done multiple full page cards, and the levels don’t look like they’ve changed one bit, whereas my previous cartridge printer would probably already be needing a refill already! Some review sites say it is a slow printer, but it doesn’t feel slow at all, and is more than fast enough for the odd office printer job or run of postage labels. Two nitpicks are that the USB port faces out the back, so the printer can’t sit flush against the wall (and its recessed too, so you can’t just get an angled USB adapter). Additionally the LCD display is not backlit, so its hard to read if the printer is in shadow, such as on a shelf. My biggest highlight is borderless printing on full A4 – I didn’t realise how much I’d appreicate this until I used it! Now I wouldn’t consider a printer without it again. With so many printer companies nowadays engaging in dodgy rent-seeking behaviour, its really nice to see such as solid and efficient printer from Canon. It’s well worth the cost and I’d for sure buy it again.

How many pages?
The only thing I use this printer for is photos. So let me say, after alot of printing, it’s very good at photos. It is just a printer. No scanning function, I have a flatbed for that! When I looked at the page count expected for photos I thought ‘how many pages?’After a running through the photo paper I bought (100 sheets each A4 and 10*15) I can believe it! Over two thirds of a tank left.Initial unpacking and setup was easy if time consuming. Loads of transit tape/packing to remove. Print heads to install. Ink to load from the colour keyed ink bottles. No danger of adding the wrong ink!Software to download and install. Network setup to complete and finally ready to print.Canon provide simple Linux software support, a much more advanced Windows software package and an app for your phone. They all work well. What’s it like as a printer? Easy to use. Lots of paper options for most scenarios. Print speed isn’t the fastest but it’s not bad given the quality produced.Stuff I miss, second paper tray and wired network. But for the price, can’t complain.

So far ~ so good
So far, so good (but early days yet!). Set-up was simple enough and filling ink reservoirs from the supplied bottles was easy without spillage. Drivers installed OK – although none supplied (d/l from site).First prints have been beyond criticism; colour density and tones look very good (on basic, “photo-quality” plain white paper only yet).I was NOT going to buy a Canon again as my Pixma gave up with fatal error message FAR TOO SOON as was a write-off. But reviews led me to buy this and – to repeat – SO FAR, all’s well.

Perfect
After considerable research I bought this printer – It is surprisingly noisy in operation but nonetheless, so far so good, with excellent print quality

Good photo printer
Very pleased with the quality of prints. Good colour accuracy despite lack of ICC profiles. The ink tank system makes printing very economical. It also handles heavy paper and card very easily. Iâve used up to 300gsm without any issues at all.

Incredibly loud and slow!
I print stationery for a living, i’ve had the printer for around 4 weeks and produced just over 5,000 prints.Print speed is extremely poor but I knew this before purchase, what I didn’t know is that the printer likes to clean its rollers in the middle of print jobs which takes forever, just this morning the printer took 24 minutes from switching it on to finish a print job of 10 A6 invites.Any media over 160GSM is troublesome, 60% of my work involves cardstock 250-300GSM and paper jams are consistent and infuriating, it may take 20 sheets without issue and then I have to fight for an hour with it to get a further 10 sheets printed. It’s perfect with 110GSM C6 envelopes and prints without fault. The print quality is exceptional for this price point, the inks are excellent too, I have a third of the tanks left after 5,000 A6 prints which is astonishing.I’ve given up on trying to get cardstock printed and just use it on jobs that require 160GSM or lower and for this there are no paper jams.If you are a crafter, don’t purchase. If you are after general everyday printing at a cheap cost and you have a lot of patience then this machine is for you.I’m going to try a few models up, I’ve heard they take thicker cardstock, fingers crossed.

EXTREMELY UNRELIABLE
This is the second one I have bought. The first one sent back after a few weeks use. I was persuaded it was rough printer, a one off glitched item. However, I was prompted to give them another go .ITS BEEN a terrible WASTE OF TIME. It started playing up a week after I used it with about 25 prints. Now 3 weeks later, It has to be unjammed and roller cleaned as instructed by the service massage after every print ( CANNOT FEED THE PAPER) , but this only delays the inevitable. After one print there is another paper jam or it wonât take the paper from the feeder and says ita paper jam. You would be lucky to get a print out in 10 -20 minutes. Is it the paper? No, I Use high quality photo paper. This is a shockingly unreliable item and should be taken off the market unless Canon can do something about its unreliability. WHY is something being sold when its SO UNRELIABLE?????? Grrrrr!
