Customers say
Customers find the cycling computer works flawlessly and is simple to use and set up, with a large clear display that’s easy to read while riding. The device provides accurate speed and distance measurements, and customers consider it good value for money, with one noting it’s a great alternative to more expensive wireless sets. While customers appreciate the fit, with one mentioning the ability to set the wheel size accurately, the cable length receives mixed feedback, with several customers noting it’s only long enough.

A good wired option with a clear display and plenty of information
Reasonably easy to position and set up, obviously as wired you need to work out how to feed the wire down to the forks with the sensor from the mount, diagrams are given to help with this. Nice clear display with plenty of information options. Worked straight away with not problems, I got fed up with wireless units being unpredictable.

Good, simple cycle computer
I wanted a wired one so I would not need to think about charging batteries, and this works fine. It does not have a backlight, which would be nice, but I generally use it to keep an eye on the time on my cycle to the railway station to avoid missing the train, and it is fine for this! Seems pretty accurate with speed readings (when compared to smartphone).

Simple no-nonsense bicycle computer
This is a very basic, very simple bicycle computer that does all I need (and a bit more). No-nonsense and very reliable. No need to connect wirelessly, or Bluetooth or any of the methods that are a recipe to make you waste more time fixing connections than actually using the computer (I gather some may strongly disagree with me). Easy to use and displays the real relevant info such as speed, distance and time continuously with no fuss. All I need!

Works well.
Works well, and easy to use.

Well-built wired cycle computer with all the features I need
Unlike the previous cycle computer I had this one has never had a problem with being out in heavy rain . It has everything I want – ability to set the wheel size accurately and all the obvious measurements. It also has a couple of pointless ones: it can give you a number for CO2 emissions saved based on some hypothetical average car, and calories burnt calculated without reference to the rider’s weight, but all useful stuff (distance, mean speed, max speed, duration) is there. If you want an old-school wired cycle computer this is as good as any I’ve come across.

A good budget cycle computer
This cycle computer saw me through a month’s solid cycling across Europe. It shows the current speed, total distance, and trip distance – all of which are important and, for a simple cycle computer, no more is needed. It is light weight and low profile.

Wired type better than Bluetooth
Years of experience have persuaded me that the “old-fashioned” cycle computer, wired between the sensor and the display is actually better than the ones using Bluetooth. This one appears to be the standard type with few alternatives and 3 months later it is working well. Importantly, it does trip-mileage, I can track how many miles of battery I’ve used.

Good value, but not so good overall
This Velo 5 is actually quite good value, BUT it’s not so good else where.Let’s jump right into it with the Pros and consCon 1: Waterproofing, Now to me it looks waterproof, but i have not read anywhere in the instructions, packaging, online, etc that it is Waterproof, in the instructions it does mention a List of possible errors that can occur when Wet, Such as “speedometer suddenly reads 0” I have NOT used it in the wet, the Actual Cycle Computer part is waterproof; however, the actual Magnet and sensor i think otherwise. It even states in the Instructions that it is advised you apply non-liquid lubricants on the sensor to help against water, though it does not have any “long term/complete failures” when wet, it’ll just have to dry out.Con 2: Instructions. It states it is a ” 1 button speedometer” but actually, there Is two — One on the front, and one on the upper right back part of the Speedometer, a TINY TINY button (which requires a pin to press) Completely stupid and you need to use this button to adjust things like, MPH/KPH and Clock, etc, completely inconvenient and a overall lie of product. The instructions received for this product was also HUGE, the size of a car glovebox map. — Stupidly, the instruction manual consisted of the Velo 5 and Velo 8 (No idea why it had the other Velo cycle computer in with THIS instructions) and it All this information in 5+ Languages, which makes it Incredibly hard to find the bit you want to know, very frustrating.Con 3: Settings — Overall it has FEW functions. (Clock, distance, Max speed, Odometer and current speed) Where-as you can get a Challenge cycle computer Which IS waterproof and has 2 more functions than that. And THAT computer only costs £10.00) Cheaper than this, which leads me to suggest that the money did not all go into functionality or weatherproofing. Now, lets move onto the prosPro 1: Ease Of setup – Now despite that stupid Second small button, and the huge instructions, it DID come with a Tyre calibration chart inside the instruction manual, which was easier than having to work out the circumference & wheel diameter yourself Like you WOULD have to do with the £10.00 Challenge Speedometer.Pro 2: The senor and Magnet. Now, despite the sensor being not exactly watertight, it does have a fair sized sensor with a Powerful magnet, Which to put together creates a Huge amount of adjustment between the Magnet on the Spoke and the Sensor on the Fork, so it does Not matter if you are on a road bike or a MTB, this will fit your forks.pro 3: Aesthetics. The Cycle Computer has a small clear plastic case over the screen, beneath that lies a Grey outline with black stripes, which are next to the actual screen. It also has “CAT EYE” in big white letters on the top of the cycle computer. (Not seen on picture)And that’s really about it.If i’m honest, its frustrating instructions, lack of function, and apparent lack of weatherproofing, does make for grim reading.Especially when you hear that you can get Other cycle computers that Literally do More — for less, the only reason this cycle computer costs what it does is because Cat-Eye Can do that. When you’ve got it set up, it very good. Beautiful, but the second it starts raining, you’ll be panicking, and the lack of functions such as Avg speed and trip time, are quite important.Would i recommend this product? No. This is the borderline between Cheap Speedometers and Expensive ones. It’s more expensive, but worse than a cheap one.
