A good quality cable well made and chunkier than I imagined and works as intended.An updateI bought this cable in March but could not use the 3.0 functionality as I’d mistakenly thought my computer was USB 3.0 ready but it was only the operating system not the hardware.I have just bought a new PC with USB 3.0 capability. Using the short cable supplied with my Media player I can transfer at 60MB/s but when using this active repeater cable I only get 30MB/s, I have just purchased a competitors active repeater cable and this transfers at 60MB/s.FURTHER UPDATEOn the day that CSL posted in the comment section they also sent me an email saying they were sending a replacement cable as they considered the original was faulty.The cable duly arrived but the transfer speed was the same 30MB/s. I sent them details of the equpiment that the cable was connected to and thay were at a loss as to why the cable would only transfer at half the rate of the other cable.I put it down to one of these things that happen with PC’s, for some unknown reason a piece of hardware/software will absolutely refuse to work on a particular machine while having no problem on another. I do not believe the cable was faulty just a combination of unknown factors.CSL have refunded the full amount with no prompting from me so it is definitely ten stars for customer service, though I can only award fve, so anyone can BUY WITH CONFIDENCE FROM CSL.

A good purchase
Background:I have my games PC set up like a console in my living room, and am perfectly happy with this arrangement; however, it means my PC sits on the opposite side of the room from me when playing. Although I’m a big fan of my Steam controller, sometimes a keyboard and mouse are just indispensable, and headphones are vital for online coop play (Having no experience with them, I was hesitant about buying wireless solutions).This is therefore just one of 3 active repeater/extension cables I purchased (INSERT CABLES HERE) to extend my reach across the living room:- BlueRigger 10m USB 2.0: BlueRigger Active Extension / Repeater Cable A Male to A Female 10 Meters (1OM) USB 2.0- CSL 5m USB 2.0: CSL – 5m (meters) USB 2.0 Repeater-/extension lead active with signal amplification – Signal Amplifier / Repeater | expandable | gold-plated contacts | black- CSL 5m USB 3.0: CSL – 5m (metres) USB 3.0 active repeater / extension cable with signal amplification – signal amplifier / repeater USB 3.0 (super speed) | blackSo far I have been very happy with these: as far as I can tell there is no drop in signal (at least, my gaming hasn’t suffered from anything that can’t be attributed to my poor gaming skills!) and as it’s a temporary solution (I only have them out when I’m playing) cable clutter hasn’t become a (potentially lethal) hazard in my room.If I had one complaint, the female connectors on the BlueRigger and CSL USB 2.0 cable are not as snug as the CSL USB 3.0 cable and it is easy for the USB device to become unplugged (hence I have rated those 4 out of 5 stars). This is not an issue with keyboard and mouse, but the longer BlueRigger is being used for my headphones – to allow me more freedom to move around – and has become an issue at times. Thus, if 5m is sufficient, I would strongly recommend the CSL USB 3.0 over the others. However, all cables work well.

DO NOT USE WITH POWER ADAPTER, IT SENDS POWER BACK TO THE COMPUTER
DO NOT USE THIS WITH AN EXTERNAL 5V POWER ADAPTER. IT SENDS POWER BACK TO THE COMPUTER.This works fine without an external supply, even without it, it is still an active cable which can use the computer’s USB port to power the electronics inside it which amplify the signal for a longer range. However if anybody is expecting they will need an external power adapter for a high powered device such as a USB powered external hard drive, then I advise against this product.This product sends power from the external AC adapter supply back to the Computer or other device it is connected to. I plugged it into a USB hub and the led on the hub came on without any power like when it is connected to a computer or its own power supply adapter. I’m assuming the led lit up because it was getting power from the extension lead. The hub didnt have external power connected to it only the extension cable had a power adapter connected, and the hub wasnt connected to a computer either so power could not have come from anywhere but the extension cable.Someone says the cable with an external adapter connected damaged their Xbox One perhaps this is why.So far I have only used it with a 802.11ac adapter and I get full internet speed but it probably doesn’t use much power, it works fine powered from the computer’s usb port over the 5m length without an adapter.I’m taking a star off though because of the power backfeed issue.EDIT: Tried it with my USB powered WD Hard Drive and it works fine without an external power adapter, which is good because as I mentioned it sends power back to the computer when connected to an external adapter.

Works with Rift Sensors!
Bought two to mount my Rift Sensors at opposite corners of the room. Worked first try, no extra setup needed!For this use, you donât need external DC power, but there does exist a port to supply it, if needed.The cables are fairly thick and feel durable, although mine donât come under any real stress day-to-day.The Oculus app is showing all green with the sensor status – with no difference in performance between having the extended cables and just the original one.Perfect! If I buy a third sensor, Iâd definitely look at one of these to place it better. 🙂
