Good quality 4K webcam
Compared to our previous webcam, which developed a few audio problems, this webcam is much larger in size, and the picture quality is far superior. The webcam features a Sony CMOS sensor, which means it offers a much higher video resolution at 30 frames per second. The 4K picture quality is very clear and the colours are vivid, but the audio, however, is rather poor. The sound quality isn’t as clear as I would have liked, which is noticeable during voice calls on Teams or Zoom. It also doesn’t offer any face-tracking features, which is becoming a common feature in modern webcams.Conveniently, though, it does come with a remote control, which can be used to control video calls, which works even if you are away from your desk. Through the remote, you can also zoom in, turn the camera and volume off, plus adjust the focus, exposure and saturation of the video.Aside from the remote control, the camera comes with an extendable metal tripod, a USB-A to C cable, and it doesn’t require any complicated setup procedure with drivers to connect to your computer. It is a true plug-and-play device and is easy to use. When not in use, you can simply slide the built-in privacy cover over the lens, which not only provides security but also offers peace of mind.

Exceptional Webcam with Useful Extras
The DEPSTECH DW50 is an excellent piece of kit. It has an abundance of practical features such as autofocus, low-light correction, 3x zoom, remote control, dual noise-cancelling microphones, a built-in sliding privacy cover, and an included mini-tripod.Autofocus works beautifully, with no noticeable lag if the subject moves around at a walking pace. Image clarity is impressive. The low-light autocorrection is useful in dim environments (I recommend using a ring light in such conditions, though, for optimal image quality).Noise cancellation is pretty effective. I’ve yet to encounter any noise-cancelling microphone (even the most expensive AI-enhanced professional studio mics) that can 100% distinguish between what’s “noise” (i.e. unwanted sound) and what’s “not noise” (i.e. wanted sound). This DEPSTECH cam’s two mics do a good job of filtering out traffic sounds, which is a handy ability. As far as faithfully reproducing voices goes, the mics’ sound quality is exceptional.The built-in sliding privacy cover is a welcome inclusion. Keep in mind, though, that even when the cover is closed and the cam is not transmitting video, the mics may still be listening. The only way to ensure complete privacy and security is to unplug the webcam. It’s a good idea to keep the sliding cover closed whenever you’re not using the cam, as the cover protects the lens against dust, dirt and scratches.The webcam’s cable has a USB-A connector. An A-to-C USB adapter is included so the webcam can be used with any USB-A or USB-C computers.Build quality is fantastic.Like every other webcam I’ve come across in recent years, the DEPSTECH DW50 can be used with the free open-source software OBS Studio, which delivers a vastly increased amount of control over cam operation: OBS Studio gives users the ability to add overlays, filters and transformations, as well as resizing, cropping, and repositioning a webcam feed. I can’t recommend that software enough. It opens up a whole new dimension for any webcam.I’ve no criticisms of the DEPSTECH DW50 Pro webcam. Performance and overall quality are hard to fault. The generous amount of features and added extras make it amazing value for money, especially at its current reduced price of £59.99 (down from the RRP of £79.99).

Smart webcam complete with remote control and tripod
This webcam arrived in a very smart looking cardboard box, within a protective bag and with all it’s components nestled in a shaped tray for their protection.It’s an incredibly simple gadget to set up. Use it perched on the top of your monitor or on the supplied tripod, plug it into your laptop/PC and that’s it. It comes complete with USB and USB-c connectors, so can be used with any device, as well as a remote control (which needs a pair of AAA batteries). This enables you to zoom in/out, adjust volume etc so great for teams calls/group meetings.It’s quite large but it’s delivering a high spec performance. The sound quality is good and the picture is crisp, clear and with good colour definition.It sits on the tripod via a ball joint, which gives you scope for adjustment of angles etc. Using this is more intrusive than putting it on your monitor though, as it takes up desk space.At £79.99, at time of review, it’s pricey but does offer a lot and is clearly a quality item.
