Missed Events and Water Ingress
Really wanted to like this camera. The design is one of the best and the integrated floodlight with HomeKit motion sensor is great (really useful having the sensor and floodlight exposed to HomeKit). However it didn’t even make it through the British winter. Stopped working some point early Feb and was filled with water inside like some other reviewers have posted. When I went to try and reset the unit up a ladder with a paperclip (never again :D) not only did I get what I felt was a small shock, but a large drip of water spilled out. Not sure if this water ingress people are experiencing is due to manufacturing issues or just a sub-par IP rating (IP55 = Limited protection from dust and low-pressure water jets from any direction) – but if it’s the IP55 rating, then it probably shouldn’t be sold as an outdoor cam with such little protection and Eve need to make a Gen2 of this camera asap with the appropriate IP rating in my opinion. Anyway… The other unexpected issue I encountered, which may or may not be a limitation of the HomeKit Secure Video service is that despite having a stable fast internet connection with the camera, many clips would not be saved. I would every so often get Push notifications from Apple Home saying motion detected, with a snapshot image at the point of detection, but when I went into the Home app to review the footage, there would be no clip stored. Upon testing over a period of time, this appeared to be when the motion was detected for a short time only. The response from Eve support on this (who to be fair responded to all my questions), was ‘It needs to be more than 3-5 seconds to trigger recording’. This was news to me, and not good enough for my needs – although as I said – with a lack of published specifications for HomeKit secure video, it’s hard to know whether this is Apple’s fault or Eve’s. And on that note, finally – the low quality video (in my opinion) I noted with this cam – as the Eve camera only works with HomeKit Secure Video, it’s hard to know whether this is the fault of the camera, or again Apple’s service which may be downscaling all the clips to save storage. This only really makes clips useable in the daytime for me – at night when the floodlight came on, the night vision switched off (no setting to keep it forced on) and the image just went black with only stuff right in front of the cam illuminated and also quite pixelated. Anyway, to end on a positive, the eve outdoor cam unit looks good, feels nicely built and for me the installation was ok, but sadly wasn’t meant to be.

There are some reviews out there that suggest this camera has poor video quality etc. In my experience, the camera has been adequate when it comes to picture quality. It’s not amazing, but it does the trick of monitoring your property. The installation is very thorough and has security in mind. For example, the cable which comes out of the housing has a clip to lock it in place so nobody can pull on it in an attempt to remove it.I also like that Eve do not collect any of your data and the unit is only connected to your home wifi and Apple TV.We are going to buy another for the backyard.

Muy bien es grande pero no muy grande, muy facil de configurar y a la primera se ha conectado a apple de casa.mas complicado pero tambien facil de montar es el soporte que es raro, pero en 20m aprox se monta facil y comodo de hacer, en la app casa tanto en mac o iphone es rapido, calidad imagen un 10 sonido como todas algo menos 8, y angulo un 10, compre 1 otra marca tipo foco similar pero mas grande y la tuve que devolver color de imagen de dia amarilla! y tarjeta sd, era 2 mano y a lo mejor fue el problema, fallaba a ratos y el angulo de vision era minimo comparado con esta la eve outddor es mucho mejor! sin tarjeta sd para respaldo solo se guarda todo al icloud de apple.asi que recomendable.

Die Kamera arbeitet seit dem 07.08.2024 immer wieder mit Kontaktverlust zum Fritz-Repeater (5m durch die Haustüre und einer Wand). Zuletzt war die Kamera direkt mit der Fritz!Box (FRITZ!Box 6490 Cable (kdg)) verbunden, der Abstand hier: 4m Luftlinie (durch die Haustüre).Mein Versuch die Verbindung mit einem zusätzlichen Repeater (Fritz 310) zu stabilisieren hat nicht funktioniert.Auch eine Rücksetzung der WLAN-Verbindung als auch eine Komplett-Zurücksetzung hat nur dazu geführt dass die Kamera jetzt total ausgefallen ist.Auch eine Trennung vom Stromnetz über eine Dauer von über 30 min brachte keine Abhilfe.Nach der WLAN-Zurücksetzung blinkt die blaue LED ständig über mehrere Stunden.Nach der Komplett-Zurücksetzung blinkt zunächst die rote LED, dann die blaue, nach einer Dauer von etwa 10 min blinkt die rote LED ununterbrochen (über eine Nacht).Die Kamera ist seit dem 27.09.2024; 15:12:49 außer Betrieb.Kontakt mit Support (Eve Systems)1. Okt. 2024, 10:02 MESZWir müssen dann leider von einem Defekt der Eve Outdoor Cam ausgehen.
