Works as expected
Simple device that does what it needs to do. Will also show in app by highlighting in red when a door/window is open.

The quality is very good, if there is a large alarm outside the wall, it will be perfect.

More cute than effective
Iâm a big EZVIZ fan, and happy with the many cameras and even the EZVIZ cordless floor mop that I have, but I cannot recommend this particular alarm product -1/ The internal gateway/alarm unit is tiny, with a really feeble volume level.2/ There is apparently, no way presently, to tie in a proper external alarm box or additional, more robust internal alarms.3/ Iâm not sure the tiny gateway unit will have sufficient wi-fi range for a larger property to connect to the sensors – and a signal repeater does not presently seem to be available.4/ The price of all the range of additional sensors is very prohibitive to expand the system.5/ I am very familiar with setting up EZVIZ units, but struggled with all the items to get them connected.6/ The portable control button, or puck, has no clear instructions on how to operate the different functions – and so, although connected, it is sitting on a shelf unused.Iâm resigned to just using the product to cover one door and room with the gateway/alarm in the hall nearby. All told, a poorly developed, overpriced novelty product and not recommended under any circumstances.

Good!
It can be a little intimidating with these sort of things installing them yourself but I found this radiator kit straight forward. There are different options depending on your radiator fitting. Although not something essential it’s one of those things you appreciate once you have it, it works well with the app and even though we are in June I have been having my heating on with this awful weather so have been able to see the benefits.

Look really good and function well
A number of years I go I retrofitted individually controlled thermostatic valves to each radiator in the house as I longed for individual control. This was a system I had to write myself using Raspberry Pi as I am a bit of a geek and software developer that was all good. It worked great but as time has gone on these kinds of systems are now commercially available to all without needing to be able to code. This comes supplied with a Gateway which needs to plug into an ethernet port on your router and 2 radiator valves. At the time of writing more were not available. :(The app is pretty straightforward and for those semi geeky it is supported in Home Assistant which to me makes these really attractive. The valves themselves are really slick with a white LED display ‘under’ the plastic which is discrete but really easy to read unlike my old ones which are LCD.The app pairs really easily and you can simply unscrew your existing manual valves and screw these on in their place. Don’t worry the valve head is not part of the “wet” side so no need for a plumber or to drain down your heating.Once installed you can then set schedules that are individual to the valves so for example bedrooms on in the evening but off during the day, and lounge on during the day but off evening/night. Only heat where you use. You can also turn it on remotely which is great if you want to come home to a lovely warm house. Some smarter integration with HomeAssistant means mine will turn off if HomeAssistant realises no one is home – saving even more money!I eagerly await availability of individual valves to replace my ageing ones.

Buggy and poorly designed.
I’m not a vine reviewer getting a free product… I paid for it. I had high hopes for the system and have Ezviz cameras in both my properties (which are adequate for purpose) so I thought integration of this simple alarm would be easy.I was wrong. It took several attempts (over half an hour) to just get the hub to connect with my WiFi. Once this was achieved I tried to add the accessories… This was also hit and miss, the instructions are basic and do not have enough detail. Please forget trying to read the Quick set-up guide, unless you are a myopic nano bot or have a microscope to hand. The QR codes are hidden inside the accessories and very fiddly to open and close. Once the codes are recognised the hub will add them (or not…) Again this took me several attempts for each device. Once I had it set up I realised that the accessories kept failing to update the firmware and on 2 of the devices the reset button was hidden inside the devices. Grrr!I couldn’t find a way to deactivate the system other than turning off the electrical power to the hub but that still left the IR sensor permanently working (which I am sure is not good for the battery consumption as it would be in a high traffic area). Also the app lacks functionality for this system couldn’t find the arm/disarm function. (my Ezviz cameras work great with functionality)Another annoying thing is that the boxes for the system are massive compared to what is inside… Truly unnecessary. In the end I’m really disappointed with this alarm system and have returned it. I think they have the right idea but haven’t done enough research and development on the final product.

Smarter home + reduced costs
I’ve been on the lookout for a smarter way to heat my home, and the EZVIZ Smart Radiator Thermostat Starter Kit caught my eye. It allows you to adjust the temperature in each room, making it easy to keep my bedroom cool at night while warming up the living room. Not to mention, it’s said to help save on energy bills â a definite win!Setting it up turned out to be simpler than I initially thought. Just make sure your radiator valves are compatible with the system first. The EZVIZ system comes with a range of handy features. For instance, it’s compatible with Alexa and Google Assistant, making it convenient to adjust the temperature using just my voice. Geofencing is another neat feature that automatically adjusts the temperature based on my location. All in all, the EZVIZ system is appealing for its individual room control and integration with smart home devices. This kit is a great way to start building a smarter home and cutting down on energy costs!
