Customers say

Customers find the laptop stand works well, is sturdy, and helps improve posture by reducing neck and shoulder pain. The screen height is adjustable and brings it to a better viewing angle, and customers consider it good value for money. While the stand fits almost all laptops, some customers report issues with the feet not staying secure. The appearance receives mixed feedback, with some finding it good-looking while others say it’s not the best-looking product.

    Perfect
As an author, I often spent 10 to 12 hours a day at my keyboard and often get a stiff neck and pains in my shoulders and arms. I am a touch typist but found I was squinting to read the text onscreen. I didn’t want to invest in whole new desktop PC system as well as my existing 2 laptops but I had already bought a separate keyboard as this fits on the sliding shelf beneath my home work station and using this is better for my fingers and also prolongs the life of the laptop (laptops don’t like having their keys pounded for 12 hours a day). However, the screen on the laptop was set too low and I couldn’t get closer to see it better, because the keyboard of the laptop dictates the distance, so I still got neck ache.Thinking a larger monitor might be the solution, I started pricing up these at Amazon, but then I spotted the laptop riser and this made good sense. The price made it more appealing than having to acquire a monitor. It took around 5 mins to set up. I am 5′ 6″ tall and need to ensure my knees and elbows are at perfect right angles when I am sitting at my home workstation. Using both sets of rubber feet that came with the riser placed the screen of my 17″ Dell studio laptop at the perfect level for me to view the laptop screen as I type. I no longer have neck and shoulder pain. To address some of the complaints of earlier reviewers, I would say:Strong smell of rubber – they must have resolved this because I have a keen sense of smell and the rubber feet gave off no odour even when waved under my nose.Scratched desktop – Using the stand without the rubber feet might, I suppose, scratch the desk top, but I fail to understand why anyone would buy this and not use it in the raised position. If you don’t need to use the rubber feet then arguably you don’t need this riser.Couldn’t use laptop keys when laptop was in the riser – to this lady I would respectfully say you have missed the point. You should use this riser in conjunction with a separate keyboard. These are cheap enough to buy and you will prolong the life of your laptop if you use one. Standard keyboards are springier than laptop keyboards in any case and will not give you RSI to the same degree as constant use of laptop keys.USB port not functioning – all 4 of mine worked perfectly, though not quite so well when the 4 port gizmo was actually inserted into its slot in the back of the stand, but this is no problem for me as using the riser frees up desk space so the gizmo sits happily just behind the stand. and actually it’s less fiddly to swap around gadgets this way.The part where the laptop rests on the riser being too big/loose – this seems to me to be an advantage as the machine will take laptops of all sizes (Mine are a 17″ and a 10″ and both fit fine). You wouldn’t normally be moving the laptop about or otherwise disturbing it when in use, so not sure why this generously sized rest should be a problem, it holds my laptops securely enough. The riser is not portable – it is no less portable than the other gadgets I take out and about with me, such as a data projector etc, but I wouldn’t take my riser out of my study in any case. This riser is ideal for your permanent home or office workstation, in my opinion.Other practical factors are that it is easy to dust around and beneath the riser without having to move the laptop (I once cracked a screen when lifting a laptop) and there is indeed a handy shallow receptacle at the front for keeping flash drives etc handy. I always seemed to be hunting around for my flash drives, only to find they slipped off the edge of the desk. All in all this riser has proven to be ideal for my purposes. I wish I had seen it long before now. Thank you Fellowes.

Expensive but worth it – a home office necessity
Had to create a virtual office during lockdown and was finding myself continually haunched over my laptop which was killing my back and shoulders. Bought this together with a wireless keyboard and I’m so glad I did – this helped me straighten my back at a height where I’m looking straight at the screen.I’ve taken a star off only because of the fact that it’s ridiculously over-priced for a bit of moulded plastic. Some of the alternatives also took too much space up on the desk – something this one doesn’t do. It’ll fit almost all laptops and the additional USB points are a great addition too.

Great riser – solid, attractive and practical
I got one of these for a 15″ MacBook Pro and haven’t regretted it. It looks good, the desktop footprint is small, I find the height spot on and the built in USB hub is very handy. It also feels very sturdy and stable, which is reassuring if your laptop is expensive. It’s lucky I find the height agreeable because it is hardly adjustable. You get two sets of rubber feet that each add about 1cm to the height of your screen. But the option of using the lowest adjustment doesn’t appeal since it leaves the hard plastic of the riser itself in contact with your desk, with all the sliding and noisy possibilities that entails. So if, like me, you always keep at least one set of feet in place you’re left with 1cm of height adjustment, which is hardly worth mentioning.Other drawbacks include the fact that the Fellowes riser appears to have been designed with brick-like 80’s laptops in mind, since the gap between the transparent front cover and the back section on which the laptop rests is 4cm deep! Don’t forget that your laptop is open when on the riser, so this leaves a yawning gap (about 3cm in my case) that the laptop is free to move around in. This is probably the biggest complaint I have about this riser.Other niggles? Well, though it is nice the have a supplied USB hub, it would have been better to have a powered hub that could support things like portable external hard drives. With the one supplied you should only hope to be able to plug in things like keyboards and mice before it overloads. But that is probably what it is there for, making unplugging your laptop more painless at the end of the day, but it does limit your options.I’m also undecided about the front “pocket”. Using a Mac (without a MagicMouse) I would like to have access to the touchpad while the machine is in the riser, but the pocket blocks this, somewhat unnecessarily. However, because it is there I have found myself chucking little odds and ends (like USB keys) into it, which is actually very practical. Worth losing the touchpad for? Quite possibly. There’s also stowage space available under the riser, which is also handy.All-in-all, despite some of the design issues, I’m very happy with my choice and heartily recommend this great looking stand.****1/2

This is only good if you use external keyboard and mouse. the mouse pad is blocked by part of the riser. This is not an issue for my setu, but i think may be an issue with other.

Changing your setup from having your notebook setting flat on your desktop to being elevated by this product is AMAZING. I was skeptical about investing $40 in a product for this purpose but compared to other products, the price is not too much more. What I enjoy about this product is the USB hub. The hub can be used separate from the riser if you choose but works perfectly to keep the connections out of sight and out of mind going out the back of the riser.I was apprehensive about the riser covering my mouse pad but with a separate wireless mouse and keyboard combo, I find I don’t mind the mouse pad being covered. I have used the slot on the front to hold my phone but mostly now I use if for holding business cards or post-it notes. This riser is very good about allowing your computer to breath and keeping it pretty steady. This unit including the 2 additional feet risers (which are included) with a 15.4 in screen notebook will raise the very bottom of your note screen approx. 9 inches up vs. lying flat on your desktop (your height will vary based on you notebook measurements). At home I often like to switch from using my notebook at my desk, to lying in bed using it, to taking it into different rooms in the house. Taking your notebook out and putting it back in this riser is not difficult and rather easy.I say the unit is ‘near perfect’ because it didn’t lift my screen as much as I would have hoped it could have. I can’t count this against the riser but your experience will depend on the initial height of your desk. As I mentioned earlier, to get an estimate, with a standard 15.4 inch notebook computer, the bottom of your screen will be raised just at 9 inches higher than if it were lying flat. Overall, this is a good quality product and worth the price.
