easy to set up
I bought these to switch on a couple of table lamps now that it is getting dark early in the afternoon. In the past I’ve always used the ones with a manual clock and push-in pins, but these always seemed a bit unsafe and so this time I decided to try an electronic version. I downloaded the HBN app onto my phone and managed to set up both sockets within 5 minutes. They are well built, look good and take up little more area than a plug, meaning that you don’t lose the use of an adjacent socket. The app allows multiple on-off times on different days so would be very good if you wanted to use them as a security deterrent.

Does the job. Very happy.
Cheap as chips! For the price it does exactly what I wanted to do.I use to control outside lights and the timer can be auto set for dusk and a timed switch off time.Easy set up with Alexa.I have now purchased another one for the Christmas lights.

Wish I’d gone old school
Well, so far I’ve spent over an hour trying to set my two plugs up and I haven’t even managed one. What a complete waste of time. I don’t know how anyone is saying this is simple, unless these work fine with an Apple phone and it’s just Samsungs they’re not build to work with. I’ve thrown the box away now so can’t return but really wish I’d saved my money and gone for an old school timer that’s straightforward to use instead of buying something which I thought would be easy but it turns out you need a degree in I.T to work it.

Really good – once connected
Great product but a nightmare to connect to my Orbi system. Wouldnât automatically detect the first plug, had to manually set it up using the extremely complicated instructions (that were not up to date). Second plug connected after 2 or 3 attempts. However after 2 hours of messing around they work really well. Seamless integration into the Google Home app and are easy to configure in terms of timers etc. Doesnât interface with Hive which is a shame but at the price point compared with Hive Iâll forego that functionality. Would recommend if you have patience in the set up process – although reading the reviews would suggest Iâm in the minority having issues with connectivity. Worth a punt for sure at the price.

Smart plugs that are really smart!!
It is clear in the description that these plugs, like most smart devices, only work on 2.4ghz. I have UniFi access points and controller covering the entire property, including annex and outbuildings. I set up a separate guest network on 2.4ghz and used this to connect. I downloaded the Smart Life app (iOS) and all plugs connected immediately without issue. It doesnât matter whether devices connect to the network through the guest portal or normal dual band (2.4ghz and 5ghz) portal the devices are recognised once on the system. You can link the devices to Alexa through the Smart Life app, which is standard and they work perfectly with voice control. The devices work exactly as they should and using the Smart Life app I have set them up as âdusk to dawnâ to control the outside Christmas lights. It should be noted the smart plugs are only rated at 10 amp not 13 amp that a standard uk plug can supply.

Easy setup on HBN or SMART LIFE APP
Well boxed for delivery. Quality English setup and user manual. 3 pin plug as in pics. Fits well to socket. I personally use the SMART LIFE app as have a 10 socket and Temperature sensors connected through the app.. First bit of advice is to ENSURE that your WiFi is on 2.4ghz only..if it has 5ghz option available switch it off through your modem setup app.. My modem setup is “Tether app”.There you can switch off 5ghz until you have all your sockets up and running on 2.4ghz… put your phone on the same 2.4ghz wifi and follow the app steps… persist is the word here as may not get it right the first time… Once you follow steps in the app it does a count down search ..always let it run to 0 as it finds and connects in this time..It will tell you if failure and/or connection sucessful.. The only hardship I had initially was to ensure the WiFi it was connecting to was set properly to 2.4ghz.. If your having hardship in setup I can guarantee its the WiFi not connected to 2.4ghz only as most WiFi modemshave both choices… They are good quality and able for heavy loads such as heaters and kettle etc and I’ve tested them for over 1year with no issue’s. Hope this review helps
