Absolutely superb camera, set-up on different WIFI to my phone, works flawlessly
This is a superb indoor security camera and I wish I’d ordered one years ago. We have a rear entrance to our house that’s quite a distance from the living and sleeping area so this is a welcome addition that allows us to take a peek at anything going on very quickly and easily. The fact that you can control the camera and physically move it about by swiping the screen on your phone is still playing havoc with my brain. It’s incredible. In case it’s of any use to anyone else:***the camera and my phone (for monitoring) are on different WIFI networks and it still works just fine. We have to have an extender at the rear of the house so we get WIFI in the garage area and the camera is connected to that. My phone is on the main house WIFI and it still monitors everything superbly. I set everything up initially with camera and phone on the same network, then simply went into the app and swapped network for the camera once it was in place”””The picture quality is outstanding, the sound pick up is just as good and the app on my phone is simply excellent. It’s astonishing to think that something so useful can be as cost effective as this.I’ve set it up for recording only on motion detection and so far it’s flawless. Every time we walk past it picks us up and records. Because it detects motion and not heat (as older devices did) it also picks up motion outside! Wow, think about that, you can point this at a window to an area you’d like covering and it can detect movement and send you an alert. The instructions say not to point the camera through a window at a busy area, I can see why, but they’re really missing a selling point I think.Overall this is a great camera and I’m super pleased we have it. Genuinely, this may be the first of several that I order it’s so good. For such a low cost I can have another to cover the entire garage and another for the entrance hall. Thoroughly recommended.

    Brilliant!
We bought the ieGeek 2K indoor camera to keep an eye on things at home, mainly to check in on our son when he’s playing in another room or to see what our cat’s up to while we’re out. It’s honestly been a great little device for peace of mind. The picture quality is really clear, even at night. I was surprised how well the colour night vision worked, it’s not just grainy black and white like some other cameras. We love that it can rotate all around (360°), and the auto-tracking means we don’t have to manually follow movement, it just does it for us, which is a huge plus when your hands are full. The two-way talk is surprisingly clear, and we’ve used it a few times to remind our son (gently!) to tidy up or to say hello to the cat when we’re away. Setup was quick, the app is easy to use, and we didn’t have to sign up for a monthly subscription, which we really appreciate.Overall, it’s been a solid addition to our family setup, reliable, easy to use, and it gives us peace of mind whether we’re in the next room or out for the evening.

  4. What are reviews for anyway?

What’s it like in the real world?
I have to say that I am very impressed with this camera. I’ve a few other ieGeek cameras for the exterior of my properly but wanted one for inside the house. One thing that impressed me straight away is how the install is a lot more straightforward now than with their older models. It’s simply a case of following the instructions on their app and scanning a QR code on the camera, logging in to your WiFi and you’re good to go.I’ve tried other manufacturers over the years but have always come back to these guys. Their app integration is very good. The speed of connection to the camera when you open the app on your phone/tablet is good. There’s not much point getting an alert and by the the time the app eventually connects, the movement has disappeared. The image quality is very good at being 1080p – not 4K but 4K is only desirable for an outdoor cam which is scanning longer distances. Unless your living room is the size of a banqueting hall, 1080p is more than you need. That leads on to the night vision and again, it is excellent. Keep the settings set at AUTO and the camera accurately determines whether to film in day or infrared mode. The motion sensor is sensitive which, when linked to the pan movements of the unit, produces a recording facility that keeps up with movement within the sensor area. The attached videos show what most cameras struggle with – someone walking across the monitored area transversely and then movement subsequently appearing above or below the viewing area. You’ll see that the video tracks in all four directions speedily so you’re not likely to miss anything.Another thing I should mention is that recording relies on tracking movement – it isn’t looking for a heat signature as well. So for example, should an inanimate object fall across the area being monitored, it’ll be tracked and recorded. I mention this as it means one fantastic feature that ieGeek perhaps hasn’t realised – the camera can be used indoors but for use monitoring both indoors and outside. For example, if it is placed on a windowsill, it can be recording out through the window but can be turned round remotely through the app to monitor inside. This is a fantastic function but it is only made possible through another thing that ieGeek haven’t promoted – the camera can rotate a full 360 degrees which is something I have never come across before. You’re lucky normally to get a maximum sweep of 180 degrees.A final positive is that this is powered via USB. That means theoretically it should be able to be powered from a memory bank. Now I haven’t tested this myself yet so cannot be 100% sure but it seems reasonable to assume that it can. That brings other uses to mind. Monitoring your caravan or another area when you’re away. It’ll need Wi-Fi to send alerts but it’ll still record to SD card if it doesn’t have connection. There are things I’d like to see improved though. First is the phone app. It is quite clunky navigating to and thereafter downloading alert recordings. You get used to it but it’s not intuitive. The second thing is more down to my understanding. A great function the app gives is the ability to draw on the app the areas you want to monitor so that you could exclude the floor area but actively monitor everything above a certain level. What I don’t quite understand is how this works in practice when the camera can pan a full 360 degrees. The last thing is – please ieGeek come out with a desktop computer app and have just the one app for the different cameras you sell. I have to switch between one app for this camera and two other exterior cameras and another app for a final exterior camera. In conclusion it’s a great wee camera and highly recommended.

After roughly six years, my old indoor 2.4Ghz indoor cam was beginning to show it’s age as far as functionality goes. It was basically a slow camera with an external antennae. I decided it was time to upgrade, but wasn’t trying to break the bank so to speak. I use my indoor camera primarily for monitoring my front living area and door. I found this ieGeek camera on sale for $21 and immediately snatched it up as I have one of their outdoor cameras already and the app for it was already on my phone so all I needed to do was add the camera.Upon arrival< I opened the package and plugged in the camera. Since I am familiar with the ieGeek app already, I didn't even need to read the instructions. I hit the plus sign to add on the app, connected to wifi via 5GHz (which is a nice option) and I was set. The speed on this camera is at least five times faster than my old indoor PTZ camera and the options are PLENTY as far as setup goes. The video stream is fast and crystal clear and the microphone does not sound garbled like my old camera. The footprint on this camera is also much smaller so now I have more options for placement. Overall, I am pleased with my purchase of this camera and definitely recommend it for those who are cost conscious. It checks all the boxes without leaving a hole in your wallet!

I bought this ieGeek home security camera along with 2 external ieGeek cameras in order to have eyes in my house as well as out front and back. Setup is very easy. The app lets me see everything from wherever I am, day or night, even when I’m travelling. The picture and sound are crystal clear. There’s a 2-way intercom feature, and the outer cameras have floodlights that I can turn on and off manually or set to automatically turn on when activity is detected. The indoor camera will automatically (and manually) follow activity left and right, up and down. A free cloud account saves any activity caught, and a micro SD card saves longer clips. I had a mechanical problem with the indoor camera, but their Customer Service was spectacular and solved the problem quickly. With such great prices, I plan to buy more as gifts.

I am very impressed with this camera and the ease of setup. The camera was well packed and protected in the box. Everything was included that you need for either tabletop application or for permanent mounting. Incredibly, it also included the USB power adapter. So many items these days do not include the power adapter and you have to get that on your own.The setup was extremely easy. I already had the software installed from another outdoor camera that uses the same software. I just clicked “Add” and the camera was automatically recognized. I didn’t even have to scan the QR code or anything. I simply added my Wi-Fi password and hit Next a few times and it was done – all in about 2 minutes. Note that while I was reviewing the Recording Management menu, it told me that my microSD card was not formatted. I just clicked OK and in less than a minute, it was done. The picture quality is excellent and the pan and tilt features work very smoothly. I would highly recommend this camera.

I have used many monitors in my time, for security reasons and for keeping an eye on junior. This particular unit was one of the easiest, most intuitive camera I have ever set-up.The picture quality is amazing (in the light or in the dark), the microphone function is awesome – I can hear what’s going on AND I can verbally respond too.The camera’s functions and features work whether I’m at home, or if I just want to check in while I’m away. The unit has motion and sound detection, which I am alerted to on my phone. This feature gives me peace of mind when I am using the monitor as a security device. And not only that, it will capture anything it detects (both sound and motion) on the micro SD card. I can easily play the event back on my computer. It doesn’t require an SD card to function as a monitor, but it does need one if I want a physical record of what it detects.I highly recommend this unit.
