I recently added the LED Alexa Light Bulbs B22 to my home, and they have quickly become a favourite smart home addition. These bulbs offer incredible versatility and convenience, making them a standout choice for anyone looking to upgrade their lighting system.The bulbs are very easy to set up. With no hub required, I simply screwed them into the bayonet fixtures and connected them to my Alexa device. The process was straightforward, and I had them up and running within minutes.One of the key features is the tunable white light, ranging from 2700K to 6000K. This allows me to adjust the lighting to suit any mood or activity. Whether I need a warm, cosy glow for relaxing in the evening or a bright, cool light for reading and working, these bulbs can do it all. The ability to change the colour temperature so easily is a game-changer.Integration with Alexa is seamless. I can control the bulbs using voice commands, which is incredibly convenient when my hands are full or I’m in another room. Commands like “Alexa, turn on the living room lights” or “Alexa, dim the bedroom lights to 50%” work flawlessly every time.The smart features extend beyond just voice control. Using the Alexa app, I can schedule the bulbs to turn on or off at specific times, helping to automate my daily routines and improve energy efficiency. It’s reassuring to know that I can come home to a well-lit house or ensure the lights are off when I leave.The brightness of these bulbs is impressive, and they provide excellent illumination for any room. Easy to set up, easy to use
The iLC smart bulbs are very easy to setup once you have installed the App on your phone, it is also very easy to pair the bulbs with Alexa after you have added them to the App. You don’t have to use Alexa if you don’t want to and if you are connected to Alexa, then you can remove the App if you want to.The bulbs use Bluetooth to connect to your phone and they form a mesh network with each other, this means that bulbs close to your phone can relay command to bulbs further away from your phone, the more bulbs that you have in the mesh, the more reliable the communications.The App itself is easy to use and has the basic brightness and colour sliders, however these sliders don’t change the status of the bulb until you remove your finger from the slider, which can make it a little difficult to make fine adjustments, however the icons either side of the sliders allow incremental adjustments if you tap on them.There are quite a few useful features in the App, for instance there are 4 user configurable colour temperature presets and 5 fixed colour presets. There are sleep and wake modes which allow you to set initial and target brightness and a time interval over which the changes occur, however I couldn’t get that to work.You can also set on/off timers to operate once or every day, you can add the bulbs to scenes and you can share control of the bulbs with other phones.The bulbs are reasonably bright, but not as bright as the 1500 Lumens bulb in my kitchen, although brighter than my 800 Lumens bulbs. According to my power meter, the bulbs are only drawing 8.5W on full brightness which possibly explains why they are not as bright as expected.I am pleased with the bulbs, but I was intending to replace the bulb in the kitchen, however they simply aren’t as bright, but I am sure I can find a use for them in other rooms though.

Unbelievably simple to set up with Alexa.
After having bought so many bulbs that are a nightmare to set up with Alexa, these bulbs are a dream come true! I was amazed at just how quick and easy the whole process was.

Very bright bulbs
These are an incredibly bright set of bulbs, I originally got these for the wall light fixture in our lounge and thought it’d be great to change the colours to set different moods. Although they fit, the bulbs are slightly larger than the holder and protrude a little from the top. So Instead, I decided to put these on the central ceiling light fixture.Unfortunately, the bulbs don’t support a generally adopted smart home app such as Smart Life or Home app but requires yet another app which further clutters the phone unnecessarily. On the positive side though, the bulbs do work with Alexa, which is a big plus.Like most other smart bulbs, you can change the colour temperature and brightness levels through the app and also set timers. Conveniently, all functions can also be accessed through Alexa voice commands.At £17, I feel these are good value, they’re easy to set up and offer good lighting modes. But You’re limited to just selecting between cool, neutral and warm colour tones.
