The Best Just Got Better!
I’ll admit, I am a big fan of this company and have been using their cameras since 2017 (although I do have a lot of cameras from other manufacturers too!). If I have the funds available (I skipped the X2) I will always invest in their new release as they are continually raising their game with every product launch and the X4 is no exception. I don’t publish a lot of my stuff as I film for personal reasons and memories but I have attached an animated photo that took of a dimly lit interior of a historic Scottish church. Lots of cameras would have struggled in these conditions but the X4 excelled! The animation was also extremely easy to do in the Insta360 Studio software which is provided free.I have mine paired with the Insta360 GPS preview remote so that if I have it mounted on a 3m pole I can easily see what is going on and start/stop recording a lot easier than having to hold a phone and do it (the remote can be wristmounted or attached to the pole). Used on its own, the camera is extremely easy to use. All of the automatic settings will give amazing results but if you want to dabble with the manual settings then you can get exceptional results.I have been involved in photography/videography for many years and would give you these tips:1. Get to know your camera… make mistakes and learn from them. If you have an important occasion coming up that you want to record, then practise, practise, practise beforehand and double, if not triple check your settings before hitting record.2. Think about your mounts if used on a vehicle. You will see a lot of people complaining about breaking their selfie-sticks – almost every time it will be because of bad practice and lack of understanding of physics. Think about leverage, vibration and if in doubt, tether!3. Protect your glass. The X4 has removable lens protectors which should be used in an action environment. I have had eight 360 cameras over the years and have NEVER damaged a lens , even in action environments. From a photography background I have been brought up respecting my glass. I always shoot with a naked lens if I can as this gives best results but there are plenty of accessories available to help you if you are shhoting in a harsh environment.4. Respect your camera – although advertised as an action camera, you should still respect it as a piece of photographic equipment and show it some care and respect. The number of posts I have seen about lenses being cracked/cameras being broken as the tripod they mounted on fell over is amazing.If you are looking at buying this as a first 360 camera then I absolutely recommend it. Easy to use and amazing, easily obtainable results.If you are looking to upgrade from an X3 then I would say yes too (I did!) The X3 is awesome but the X4 is awesomerer!

First of it’s kind 8K 360 Camera. Tip for Android Users
Although I haven’t had much opportunity to test it completely, my initial impressions of the camera are positive. The 8K resolution is particularly impressive, allowing for substantial cropping while still maintaining decent-quality footage.I mistakenly purchased the X3 version initially, but the upgrade to the X4 is well worth the £90 price difference. I’ve shared some photos, including side-by-side images of the X4 and X3 for length and thickness comparison. Unless you’re examining them closely together, the size disparity isn’t noticeable, nor is there a discernible difference in weight when holding them.Few things to bear in mind:1. Some Android users have posted negative reviews about this camera, attributing their inability to connect to their Android devices. However, this issue is not related to the X4. It is caused by an ad blocker or similar software enabled on their Android devices. This results in the “Connection failed Error code: -14174” message (refer to the attached screenshot). To resolve this, Android users simply need to access their device settings and disable any ad blocker to enable the X4 to connect with the Insta360 app.2. The 8K resolution of the Insta360 X4 camera is spread across the entire 360-degree view, so it would not be fair to directly compare it to that of any other non-360-degree device, which only captures a fixed angle of view. When editing and exporting footage from this camera, you won’t achieve true 8K resolution in a traditional sense. However, considering the compact size of the device, the footage is still very impressive.3. The Insta360 X3 Quick Reader isn’t compatible with this device; instead, the Insta360 X4 Quick Reader is required. Unfortunately, the X4 Quick Reader is not readily available for Prime delivery at the moment. Hopefully, the Insta360 X4 Quick Reader will be in stock on Amazon soon for Prime delivery; I’ll purchase it as soon as it’s available.

Overall excellent camera
Likes: Really good quality camera that is relatively easy to use. The iPhone app works well for editing.A 512gb micro sd gives me 4 hours 30 mins of 8k 30 frames 360 video. The microphone quality is good. You donât have to worry about missing anything as the 2 lenses capture everything.Dislikes: the Mac/Win studio software has very few features for editing. The camera gets SO hot when recording in max resolution especially in warmer weather. In my case it only once stopped recording at 34c heat in direct sunlight after 30 minutes. This also reduces the battery life. A second battery is recommended as I was getting just over an hour of recording.Editing footage on my iPhone causes it to overheat especially when editing larger files (IPhone 15 promax). The files after editing are massive (3 minute edited video was 550 mb).Verdict: Price wise it is expensive and you will find yourself buying extra accessories for it.But overall I would recommend this camera.

My mind is blown at the features this tiny camera packs. It literally captures a full 360, and you can get footage that you didn’t think you were aiming at. Amazing. Quality on this is also great. Finally something that compares to the latest and greatest GoPros, but with better features.

Ho acquistato la Insta360 X4 per registrare i miei viaggi in moto e devo dire che è stata una scelta fantastica! Questa camera è incredibilmente compatta, ma non lascia nulla al caso in termini di qualità video. Le riprese in 360° sono spettacolari: ogni angolo viene catturato con una risoluzione super alta, il che rende ogni video estremamente immersivo. Anche con il vento forte e le vibrazioni della moto, la qualità dell’immagine è sorprendentemente stabile, grazie alla funzione di stabilizzazione avanzata.La qualità video in 4K è eccezionale e la nitidezza dei dettagli è davvero impressionante. à fantastico poter catturare ogni momento del mio viaggio senza preoccuparmi di cambiare angolazione o posizione della camera, grazie alla possibilità di riprendere tutto attorno a me. This camera amazes me on a daily basis, no joke. I wanted a 360 camera for years but couldn’t justify the price for the offerings at the time. A friend of mine has the X3 and his footage was amazing. When I compared the two, I just knew the X4 was the perfect fit for me. I bought this primarily for travel videos (making things a little more creative). But I also plan to put it on my mountain bike. I already had it on a selfie stick and had it positioned out my driver’s side window (not too far, just above my mirror) and the footage was clear as can be and very smooth. I bought a neck mount to test how walking around with the camera would be. Neck mount was great, and the footage was unbelievably smooth considering I was walking on a hilly/bumpy lawn. It didn’t have that up and down motion you see with other cameras while walking. The stabilization blew me away. I have also used it for driving by placing it on different mounts in my front windshield. That has also been pretty great. My only issue with the camera, and I think this is something I just personally need to revisit is the exposure in the sky while driving has been overexposed in the daylight every single time. The whole sky is blown out. I am using the premium lens guards, but I was hoping the auto exposure would handle this better. Like I said, that might just be a setting I need to understand better. Battery life has also been pretty great. I do plan on buying numerous batteries due to traveling and not having access to charge up as often as I would hope. It also does have a voice recognition thing which I have used numerous times. That way I don’t have to push the record button. I like that feature a lot. I have been pretty impressed with not just the camera but the accessories I have bought have all been incredibly sturdy and well constructed. I will say that the included case does not fit ALL selfie sticks, only the smallest one I believe fit the carrying case. It also wouldn’t fit the camera if you have the quick release mount on it. I wish there was a little more leeway with space. I probably will just order an off market case/bag for it. Not sure what that is actually called, but the gray case thing. The app for 360 is pretty great too…. but it does not offer all the same features that the desktop application does. I could not find direction lock in the app, but it is on the desktop one. Anyways, this camera is truly a game changer and has millions of possibilities for editing/creating.
